New Year's Day with Ryan and Leyla

We spent a fairly quiet New Year’s Eve with Ryan and Leyla, who were finalizing their packing, and took them to the airport the next day. They are spending the next 10 days shooting on location in Kenya and the Sudan. They are filming the second part of a documentary for a children's aid organization. We are house and dog sitting for them, which is fun and also allows us TV and internet privileges. Bob walks the dog (Rocky) every morning, and they both enjoy it. It will be great when Ryan and Leyla get back with lots of stories.

Fulfilling long-held dreams of living and working in another country and of being of service to humanity, we left the US in September 2006, at the end of summer in the northern hemisphere, and arrived in South Africa in the spring, ready for our second summer.
