Musanze or Ruhengeri, it is the same town but the name has been changed recently following an administrative reorganization of Rwandan’s 12 former provinces. Both names are still in use and it doesn’t matter which one you’ll use. On one side of town says Musanze and on other side – Ruhengeri. Now this is a blog I’ve enjoyed reading as I have always and (I can’t stress that enough) wanted to be exactly where you are actually seeing my favorite species in it’s natural habitat. What an amazing creature with such unbelievable talents that we don’t realize we are in the midst of an honor until we are in their presence. I’ve always thought it amazing and arrogant that the human species has formulated even throughout the scientific community that we are the only creatures that feel emotion. That we have the highest intelligence on the planet, ok I ask myself prove it. I’m enjoying a lovely book called “When Elephants Weep” written by Dr. Jeffery Masson. He explores a side of science where most of his colleagues would stone him. He goes into the emotions of various other species at length and it is a truly amazing read. Back to Gorillas, I can’t tell you when my love affair started but I know it was when I was a child. I used to cry at the zoo as I watched these magnificent creatures sitting in cages knowing by their eyes that their misery was beyond words. I write for a film blog so during my travels I do extensive research on my subject matter, as that is just the way I am. The next topic we are doing is “Gorillas in the Mist” and the life of Diane Fossey as she is such an inspiration. Luckily, I found the technology to allow me to do this because without it I’d probably have to shut the blog down. I got my hands on some awesome technology called the Sling Adapter available through Dish Network free thru a rebate to qualifying new and existing customers, which has changed an important part of my life. The DISH Remote Access app is free and downloads to iPads, laptops, and Smartphone’s plus there are no additional monthly charges and it is really that simple. It has given me the ability to have unlimited access to all my subscription programming and I need those movies. With the online content I can get tons of movies and thousands of TV episodes but I can also schedule my DVR events remotely if need be and utilize the recordings. I found it strange that other companies restrict programming to their customers, charge for the app and the Sling technology. This technology is important because allows my creative side to blossom. My work for Dish Network will always require travel, which will take me away from my blog, but I can research everything I need while I am away. Then when I get home, I am prepared to write. I hope that I will see these amazing creatures for myself one day but until then I will rely on the beautiful blogs of those who walk that path before me.
