Paul and I woke up early and covered in mosquito bites as there were no mosquito nets in the room we choose. In the middle of the night we woke up and turned on the two standing fans to blow the mosquitoes away from us. We sat up in bed and had an amazing view of the beach on the clear day. This place would make the perfect beach house! We got up and continued to admire the view as we ate French toast for breakfast on the deck.
After we finished breakfast, we packed up and left at 9:30am. Our next stop for the next three nights would be on a lake near Inharrimme. Along the way I observed many coconut palms, huge well established mango trees, each town had its own soccer field and many maize fields.
There were many people along the road selling cashews. The cashews were in little clear bags tied to a dead tree branch. We tried to bargain with the sellers, but they were not interested. We nibbled on some cashews as Paul drove us to our next place. They tasted okay, just needed a bit of salt.
At about 12:30 we arrived

One of the many beautiful views from the deck. in Inharrime. It was a small town, but full of hustle and bustle. After driving a lap of the town I suggested we stop at the market to buy some fresh food. It was a small market, but there was everything we needed. Each stall sold the same fruit and vegetables – cabbage, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers - this was not the variety I was use to! We bought tomatoes, cucumbers, mangoes, coconuts and bananas. We also got a big bag full of fresh bread rolls. The people in the market were very nice and friendly. They did not hassle us at all.
From this town to our chalet it was about a 20 minute drive down a sandy track that was lined with coconut palms. We drove past a few small villages. We finally arrived at Caju Afrique – our home for the next four nights. This place was organised through Brett and one of his previous guests who offered it to us for a good price. It was a two bedroom chalet right on the lake, a very private, remote location. We were the only guests here at this stage, the other three chalets were not occupied.
We had a

Just after 5pm Paul and I went for a short walk along the shore of the lake. We were looking for birds to tick off our bird list. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
Back at the chalet I cooked us spaghetti bolognaise (with soy mince of course) for dinner. After dinner we sat on the deck which was covered and enclosed with a fly screen- which would make this a great place to sleep should there be a breeze. We sat around having a few drinks and playing 30 Seconds.
Just before 10pm we called it a night as this is when the power is turned off. The electricity here is on generator and will be turned on again at 6am. Hopefully we will sleep well without the fan on.
