I hadn't planned to go by myself to Essaouira. Yesterday, Elaine dismounted awkwardly from a mule at Imlil, and we had spent the rest of the day in Marrakech getting her treated. Today, she was supposed to be resting at the hotel, and I was on my way to the coast, able to occupy two seats on the bus.
GOM. Only partially domesticated. Married to Elaine. Seperately they have five kids, all now adults - or at least maintaining the pretence. Doug hopes to tread lightly on at least a little bit of every continent, and only has one left to visit. Elaine wants to shop in every major shopping centre in the world, and is still well short of the mark.

Port - fishing boatsI soon realised that there were several places where these blue fishing boats were moored. This was the first that I came across, and next to it the fishermen were cleaning and selling their catch.
Town - Entry from the portThis magnificent square linking the port area to the main town was almost empty, but it was not hard to imagine it full of people in summer. It made me glad to be here in winter.
