Day 6 – Sanitary napkin template was turned into a very successful prototype by the sewing class. I measured out the land to build a “living fence” around the perimeter. Termites have eaten away at the barbwire/wooden post security fence. Kathy and I drove out with Charles to a farmer’s house in the country and picked out the plants for the fence. Beste had great success teaching a few art classes with the kids and Kathy and I handed out pictures to all of the kids. This went over really well. We also played some soccer or “football” as they say here. Kathy scored an awesome goal. Helene and Daniel went to visit the grandmothers and determined some of their needs. Todd and Cristelle met with the Chief and various government officials. We should soon be able to apply for grants from the Kenyan government. We also handed out some books for the library and picked up some lightbulbs. A lot of great work has been done here but there is still so much to do.
