tomatoes
Growing tomatoes is one of HOREC's self sutainability projects. They sell them at a local market. Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 It has been awhile since I have written a blog. That is because we have caught up with the American way of life; aka-“the rat race”. Personally I have never seen rats race but I have a feeling it means they wake up, hop out of their beds, and go from 0-80 in 2.4 seconds. If that is it, then we truly are the human equivalent. Once I finally peel myself out of my bed and stumble down to the coffee maker then it becomes a race to have some quiet time before my two year old awakes. Many days I think he has an invisible umbilical cord that stretches as far as my coffee maker. Just as I press the on button to start my Blast from the past
At HOREC orphanage when Jonathan was 7 weeks old. My sis and her family were with us. :) morning brew it tugs at him and I hear “mama” coming from upstairs.
J man Sr. is busy with work and taking a Monday evening class called,” Perspectives of the Christian movement”. Both work and class are challenging and satisfying for him. I have a small group on Thursday evenings called, “Cry Freedom”, that is devoted to raising awareness about human trafficking here and abroad… A problem that plagues the world. Houston is a hub of 25%!o(MISSING)f all human trafficking that takes place within the United States. Working overseas I have encountered girls that had once been sold and girls that we are preventing from falling into that trap through education and meeting their basic needs. Hubby and I are reading a book together called “Operation World” that proves to be an affront to settling down into a calm and comfortable life. If you love all things international (like us) this is a manual that tells about each nation of the world; their political, economical and religious situations. It gives ideas of how to pray specifically for each nation. As I sit in my comfy chair, sipping my delicious coffee, reading about how children are trafficked in Talitha Koum
First floor renovation Nepal due to the poverty, I am reminded to be extremely grateful for my life, then prompted to pray and work for change.
We at International Treasure House Ministries are working hard to create change by sponsoring young ladies educations (two of which are now in college!) and partnering with Spring Valley Academy and HOREC orphanage. Two are better than one...two organizations, two people, two ententies combining their efforts are much more effective than having to "go it alone". We love to see the story unfolding before our eyes of progress and growth in the girls and the projects. Spring Valley Academy (SVA) recently met with Living Waters International and are in the process of getting approvals to drill a water well! Water is life changing as it dramatically reduces skin borne and intestinal illnesses that happen due to the lack of clean water. We pray by the end of the year that they will have the well drilled and have an endless supply of water. Since they let the kids bathe and wash clothes at the school this will be tremendous blessing. Imagine the joy when they get to run clean water to wash away the dirt Talitha Koum
Sand and cement is needed to plaster the walls. and grime of the day...something we can do so easily in the United States. It will also aid them as a self- sustainability project as they can sell water to the community for a reduced rate and put those profits back into running the school and rescue center.
Talitha Koum Rescue Center at SVA is progressing nicely. Currently construction is going on inside one of the floors. After a visit from a local team that wants to see girls safe as soon as possible they bypassed the interior ground floor construction and started one floor above where 50 girls will be housed. They still need to complete the 5th floor walls and add a roof but each level is able to be worked on independently. They are just so anxious to take in children and with the plaster, doors and windows being in place they can take in 50 girls. Of course, that is after they are able to purchase beds. The kids watch with anticipation in their hearts as they see the progress and they are saying their prayers that they will be one of the first to be chosen to live in a place of safety, with electricity, water and food. If you would like to help get this building ready it would be of great help!
HOREC orphanage has taken leaps and bounds over the last years. They went from knocking on doors of the neighbors asking for food for the kids to now growing food to sell. They have an excellent director and staff that are changing the lives of future generations with their love and direction. ITHM is honored to partner with such devoted people overseas, and here! We thank ALL of you that have devoted yourself to help us over the years! THANK YOU for praying for us, for giving generously and for choosing to live beyond your borders and spreading the Gospel. Two are better than one...just imagine us trying to rescue children without you and you trying to rescue them without an organization that takes care of the "hands on" work. If you would like to join us you can 1. pray and/or 2. donate for education for our girls, for SVA children, construction of Talitha Koum, HOREC or our general fund that meets many needs. If you wish to donate you can make a tax-deductible check to: Talitha Koum

Bless thru You!
Dear Jen and Team, I am always happy to get your blogs and updates as to what is going on with the work you are doing. I am always humbled by realizing how much we take for granted in the U.S. and how we take God's Providence for granted. May our Lord continue to bless your work and YOU!!!
