SVA...New Dresses!
Because a handful of ladies have cups full of creativity, 150 little girls received brand new dresses. The tags that were on the dresses were so cute that the girls didn't want to remove them. They collected them to use for another project. My cup overflows….I wonder how many of us feel that way? With life and stress and busy schedules I know it is easy for “our cups” to feel almost empty. We get to a point where we just want to make it through the day without yelling at our child one more time, or getting another bill in the mail, or be overtaken by housework…or lack of it. Yet, when the child is asleep and the house is quiet with only the hum of my fabulous dishwasher (remember I lived overseas for many years where a dishwasher was a dream away…and for those who wash by hand…may God bless those hands), and soft music filling the air I realize my cup is overflowing. My stomach never goes hungry, I never sleep too cold or too hot, I don’t have fear when I lay my head to rest at night and I live in a house of love, my heart and my soul are full. These are only a few of the things that cause my cup to overflow. It is my desire never to dig a moat around myself, or my house, or my family in order to SVA breakfast!
Filling the cups for the morning porridge. Some of the little children used to pass out in school due to hunger. SVA has solved that problem, at least for 2 meals a day. Their desire is to be able to provide three meals a day in the future. keep the blessings close. For we all know that stagnant water turns stinky. It is my desire to build bridges…bridges that we can cross and meet with those whose cups are truly empty. So empty that perhaps they feel it to the core of their being: hunger, loneliness, fear, lack, loss.
I have held the hands and heard the hearts of many in those situations. It is a sad sight to see tears bounce at the bottom of their dry, empty cups. However…the great news is that we…WE…YOU AND I…have the power to dry those tears, give them a hand up, dust off their knees and start walking a journey together. HOREC orphanage and Spring Valley Academy are two organizations with angels in human flesh that help fill other’s cups daily. Courageous Carol came to HOREC orphanage at death’s door after just losing her mother. I got to take her on a few hospital runs and I cried many tears thinking her frail little frame could simply take no more pain from the AIDS that was destroying her from the inside out. Christine, the director of HOREC, nursed her back to health. Today, Carol is strong and Into Abba's Arms kids
Lydia and Teresia's cups bubble over with smiles and giggles. Their lives would have been completely different had they not had a safe place to grow. joyful and has a love for school and life…her cup overflows.
At Spring Valley Academy there is a young employee that came as a young girl with no education. Her heart and her life were broken to pieces by abuse from a family member. She felt her cup had been stabbed right though and all her blessing flowed out onto the dry and dusty ground. SVA took her in, brushed her off, loved her, fed her and taught her. She is now getting a college education and she mentors the other young girls that have been hurt by sexual abuse. Her smile is infectious and her cup runs over. There are many cups that are being filled. Love, provision, education, hope and faith are bubbling up and over and their lives are a shining examples of poverty turned into potential. ITHM is honored to be a part of that by partnering with these organizations. We are blessed to be able to support a number of orphaned girls’ educations. We are happy to be able to share our blessings with the needy and weak. We are grateful that we are given the opportunity to pour from our cup Water collection
The women (or children) collect water from SVA to take home. With that they cook, clean and bathe. to theirs. Ultimately it is
Jesus Christ who fills our cups to the depths of who we are and surely we cannot be stingy with Him and His love.
Thank you to those who share from their cup of abundance and pour into ours, which allows us to pour into others! Jennifer Phillips Lawrence Can you find something in your cup that you can share with another? Can you share it today…and tomorrow and so on and so forth?
