a lil b!it of paradise
in the forest where the monkeys live I'm ready to pass out into a food coma. Charity cooked us an amazing meal tonight. But, the Internet is working, and I promised more pictures. The past few days we've been to the university in Kumasi to listen to lectures on slavery and the history of music. The music class was awesome. When we pulled up to the cultural center, there were drummers and dancers waiting for us outside. In a nutshell, we learned that dance and music (mostly drumming) is connected to the soul of Ghana. It's how they tell their stories and keep their rhythms going. There's much more to it all, but I'm tired and need to hurry and post this.
The slavery lectures were also very interesting, and I got some insight into the African perspective. I'll share later.
We also visited the village that makes kente cloth. The village is soooooo friendly --- even more so than all the others ones we visited (and they're pretty darn friendly too). It's amazing. They make everything by hand and feet (they use their toes to help work the loom). I bought a few strips to hand out to a few of you back home. I

I got permission to take her photo, so she's not sad because of that. I just like this mess-up shot better than the one of her smiling hope you'll like them.
Tomorrow we leave early in the morning. We're headed to Cape Coast, but we're stopping at a famous slave trade center beforehand. Hopefully, we'll have good Internet connection so that i can post some more.
