This is a Two Day report instead of just Today. Thursday: The day was heavily affected by the rough ride on Wednesday night. The ship had slowed down during the day to make the cruise smoother while everyone was up and walking around. To get back on schedule they went faster at night while everyone should be sleeping. But the extra speed meant more rolling over the waves. We usually leave the bathroom light on with the door slightly ajar, but the motion of the ship caused the door to swing back and forth - alternately bright and dim. We could fix that problem, but it still meant a pretty bumpy ride. The waves caused Janet to have a squeezy stomach in the morning, even with the Seasick Bracelets. We were still sleepy when they smoothed ... read more

Hello from somewhere in the Atlantic. For some reason, the BLOG has been suspected to be a SPAMMER. It has taken a little while to get that corrected. Hopefully this can get posted soon. Well, we missed it by “that much” – meaning 5 minutes. With the clock having been moved forward we just didn’t get up in time and skipped Breakfast again. Since the clock is changing another hour again tonight, breakfast may be questionable again. But we did have lunch at 11:35 up at the buffet again – on this ship it is called the World Market instead of Horizon Court. If anyone wants to tour around the ship with us, the deck plans should be found at this URL: http://www.princess.com/en-us/ships-and-experience/ships/cb-caribbean-princess We are in cabin D224 (pictures to be included someday). It is on ... read more

Hello. Last night we tried to post the BLOG and it was blocked as a spammer. If you are reading this, then that issue has been resolved and we are back in business. This morning, we got up with the alarm and made it to breakfast in the Palm Dining Room. We felt that was an accomplishment considering the missing hour from last night’s sleep. This dining room is located on the stern of the ship on deck-6. It is a little awkward to get there, but we made it. Then we went back to the cabin for the rest of the morning. Last night the ship was really zipping along, so it was kind of bumpy. The drinks in the refrigerator were periodically rolling back and worth and hitting each other – pretty weird. This ... read more

We are still in the Atlantic, continuing toward the Azore Islands. We have really been enjoying the restful pace of activities – after we get close to Europe things will happen almost every day and we will not have as many rest periods. We got up even earlier today and had the buffet breakfast. Remembering how Melody really liked the Princess croissants, David had a strawberry croissant. He also had something called a Pizza Muffin, which was pieces of pepperoni and cheese on a small crust. And David got a watermelon smoothie. With some bacon and sausages, and pound cake, that was a filling breakfast. Breakfast finished by 9:00 and Janet was able to go to the Knitters and Knatters meeting in the Crooner’s Bar. This is similar to the Hook and Needle Club at Mason ... read more

Happy Cinco de Mayo! We are somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean, making steady progress toward our first port in the Azores. It is several days of sailing, so we are preparing for a restful time. But where are we actually? If you are interested, our ship’s location can be tracked daily at this URL: https://www.seascanner.com/ships-position-caribbean-princess In keeping with the idea of a restful cruise, we actually slept quite late this morning. Partly because of having to get used to another new bed – always takes time to get comfortable with the mattress/pillows/temperature. But the accumulated fatigue from the previous day’s travels finally overcame us and we slept so long we actually missed breakfast. It’s hard to miss a meal on a cruise ship. The “noon positional report” said we were 382 miles from Ft Lauderdale with ... read more

April 9 Another lovely sea day. Dinner last night was interesting. The Matre de came over to be sure all was well with me. It’s like Cheers where everybody knows my name. All in response to my critique on the ship web site. Dinner was good. They had a chilled soup on the menu but it wasn’t very good. They used to be so delicious. This one was watermelon with a ton of salt. After dinner I went to the casino but the cash game was a no go. The Rolling Stone Rock Room was overflowing with not a seat to be had. No obvious option but to enjoy an early night. This morning I played in the poker tournament again. Unlike yesterday when I came in five out of six, today I was number two ... read more

April 7 Can’t seem to stay awake. Yesterday’s four hour nap and last night’s 10 hours snooze and still I’m sleepy and probably dopey as well. Sitting by the Lido pool noting I could easily get in but not sure I could get out. In any case I’m comfortable here watching the people. Everyone must have partied hearty last night because the pool and chairs are almost empty. Very unusual for a sea day. We lost an hour last night so maybe that explains it. While relaxing by the pool my ears were assaulted by loud music. There was an exercise class being held. Why it wasn’t held in the gym is a mystery. I can only hope it’s a short class. I think I am becoming an old fart, or maybe I was jealous that ... read more

April 5 The hotel lobby is rocking. There are five ships in port. Shuttle ride uneventful and then the fun begins. Missed the wheelchair at the entrance so had to navigate check in, then took the escalator up to a packed waiting room. Signed up for a wheelchair and waited about half an hour. By then the waiting room was empty. Had to go to the Lido as the cabins were not ready and now at 12:30 they are still not ready. It’s a beautiful day, severe clear blue skies. My stateroom is spacious. Unpacked and ready to go. Delightful dinner companions .sThere were three of us cat people. Enjoyed dinner, Hake with mussels (2), clams (2) and one shrimp. Delicious pear tart for desert. Decided on an early night, read in bed and enjoyed the ... read more

Well home long enough to catchup with the kids, wash and iron clothes, swap cases and we are on our way again. Flew to Sydney Tuesday 26th March and met up with everyone and we all stayed at the Sofitel Sydney, Pat and Gordy came up from Leongatha Sunday, Jude and Chris flew from the UK and arrived Saturday and Ivan and Renate from Brisbane met us at Sydney Airport Tuesday and we caught a taxi together to the hotel. Dinner was excellent at the Atelier Restaurant Sofitel and we met for Happy Hour in the Champagne Bar at 5.30, so lucky they had a posh champagne company doing tastings of their whole range of champers....we all certainly had our fill with gorgeous charcuterie as well! Winning! Breakfast Wed morning was delish and John spotted our ... read more

Cruise Day 3 - Mon 19 Feb Slept in till well after 7 - what a shock! We went downstairs for breakfast and requested, and given, a private table for 2. Tom had cereal, eggs Benedict and a Danish. I had smoked haddock poached in milk, smoked salmon on a beautiful bagel (not super dense like our supermarket ones), and a Danish. After brekkie we went up to the library and read the newspapers and did sudoku until it was time to go to the Carinthia Lounge for trivia. They decided to do riddles instead of general knowledge this morning (e.g. what is the end of everything? What do Winnie the Poo and Alexander the Great have in Common?). We were pleased with 15/20. After Tom attended a talk on the Australia II (Americas cup, decades ... read more
