Managua Layover

We are in Managua, for the most part without incident. Early am ferry back to San Jorge followed by a cab direct to our hotel in Managua. Our stay in Managua is basically a layover; tomorrow at 5 am we catch the international bus (Tica Bus) to San Pedro Sula, Hondurus.

In Managua, we are staying in the Barrio Martha Quezada, a neighborhood that is not considered to be ideal and safe; however, it's a few blocks from the Tica Bus Station so it's convenient for our 5 am bus.

Ironically, the bus station is two blocks from our hotel, but we were told we need to take a cab in the morning because the streets are very dangerous at night. That being said, the day seems to be a different story. We took a walk around the neighborhood down to the International Mall and everything seemed quite peaceful. There is typical Nica restaurant directly across the street where will have dinner and then no intentions of leaving our hotel until our cab picks us up.

For tomorrow, our bus has one stop in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Hondurus. Originally, we planned to spend a night in Tegucigalpa but have been told it's a city that should be avoided on all counts by tourists. With our plan, we should arrive in San Pedro Sula tomorrow night around 6pm... Wish us luck!
