Since neither of us can drive a car,or anything that has an engine and wheels, and we wanted to see more of Phuket, we decided to take a tour. There are so many to choose from, but we finally decided to go on the 4-1 Safari Tour. We got a pretty good discount on it, and it included pick-up from our hotel, a visit to the James Bond Island, a Muslim fishing village, elephant riding, and an elephant and monkey show. The morning was cloudy and pretty cool for Phuket. Great, since we still had major pains from our recent sunburn. The thought of the sun, made my stomach turn and my tush hurt :) We were picked up from out hotel and greeted by a lovely, lively tour guide. We then drove to Phang-Nga Bay where ... read more

On Monday we flew out of Bangkok. Our wonderful Thai friend hooked us up with her private cab driver who zoomed us to the airport in less than 40 minutes for $15! Talk about motivation! The flight to Phuket International Airport was very quick- about 70 minutes, maybe even less. Air Asia offers some of the cheapest flights in Asia- roundtrip tickets to Phuket for $30! No food or drink wa served for free on the flight, however. You could purchase water and even meals, which smelled really good but were a bit pricey for travellers like us :) The few passengers that did order meals, ate in satisfaction as everyone around them sniffed the air and eyed the food with envy. As we were landing, the view from the airplane was breaktaking. Phuket International Airport ... read more

Sunday was our last full day in Bangkok so we decided to do a little shopping at one of the biggest malls in Bangkok- the MBK. The majority of the mall consists of clothing, souvenirs and accessories booths, not actual stores, which only mean one thing- BARGAINING! I can proudly say that we didnd't buy anything for full price. :) I bought an adorable Thai bag for B140 (B400 originally), a thai silk scarf, a beach dress for B200 (we later saw the same exact one on a beach in Phuket---for B800!!!) and some other souvenirs to bring back home. After we reached out daily spending limit, we found a map of the area and decided to walk home. As soon as we walked out of the mall, we literally got attacked with tuk-tuk, taxi, and ... read more

We woke up early this morning and made our way to the Grand Palace. The cab ride from our hotel to the Grand Palace was B100, not too bad considering the traffic, but I'm pretty sure the cab driver made sure we took the longet route possible. :) As soon as we got out of the cab, we were approached by a nicely dressed Thai gentleman who spoke very good English. He told us that the palace was closed for the daily prayer (???) and that it will reopen in one hour. He then told us to go visit a nearby Wat and pointed us to a tuk-tuk. He said the tuk-tuk would take us there and 2 other temples for B30. This already smelled fishy, but we got in anyway- what the heck. So first ... read more

So, officially our first trip alone has begun, and the first stage of it is almost ending. We have spent four days in Bangkok and tomorrow are leaving for Phuket. So far, it has been quite an experience. :) As soon as our feet stepped off the plane, the heat and humidity hit us- "Did someone turn on the heater???" asked Monika jokingly. The flight from Seoul to Bangkok was pretty short- less than 5 hours. We have travelled a lot in our lives, using many different airlines, and so far Thai Airways stands at the top of our list. Suvarnabhumi International Aiport is quite new- it opened its doors in 2006- and it is one of the busiest airports in Asia. We spent our first day (and night) in the home of our wonderful Thai ... read more

We have been travelblog fans for a loooong time. All those times we spent together looking at other people's awesome travels, wishing that one day we would be able to do the same. Even though we spent most of out lives moving from one continent to another, this trip is going to be different. We graduated high school (yay!) and for the first time ever, we will be traveling alone! We are both excited and a little scared...you never know what adventure you will run into! So, tomorrow we are leaving for our trip to Thailand! We will stay there for 12 days, and so far it looks like it's going to an amazing trip. We will try to upload pictures and write about all the cool things Thailand has to offer, and maybe, somewhere in ... read more
