Left today at 7:45 and were met with another beautiful day with Mt Logan ahead of us standing at 16,000 plus feet. We are heading to Tok, Alaska today, which mileage wise, is only 294 miles, but takes many more hours than you would think because of the road conditions. Destruction Bay is one of the towns on this road that grew out of the building of the Alaska Highway. It earned its name when a storm went through the area and destroyed all of the buildings and materials. It now has a population of 64 residents, and is also know for its terrible roads. Ray had been on the lookout for a pharmacy, but did not find one there. I doubt very much he will find one in any of these small towns. These towns ... read more

Up early to go to Santa Rosa for breakfast at Louie’s with Bobbi’s friend Jean. I love meeting her friends because they are awesome just like Bobbi. I had a huge breakfast of Belgian waffle with strawberries, bacon and eggs. Three hours later we finally said goodbye to Jean and went for a small shopping spree. There’s a Skechers outlet that had to be visited and Bobbi found a pair of shoes. A quick stop at Walmart (where I found my favourite Mounds bar) and a short stop for some tomatoes, then back home for a lazy afternoon. Bobbi has fruit trees in her backyard. She’s lucky to have loquats and figs that hang over from the neighbours. She has pears, plums and apples but, of course, none of those are anywhere near to be ready. ... read more

Today was a travel day. We met in St. Mary’s, loaded the car, filled up with gas, and headed to Dulles airport. It was much cheaper for us to fly from Dulles to London and back then to fly into any other city in Europe or from any other city in the US. Over the course of three weeks, we will travel eight different times; by plane, boat, and train. Many of you know me so well that you wouldn’t be surprised that we couldn’t drive by Dairy Creme Corner. So we stopped for ice cream and then hopped back in the car heading east. We didn’t stop again until we got to Winchester. Shealyn kept us entertained by telling tales on her mother…..Oh My!!! We stopped for a bathroom break and to gas up the car ... read more

Last night when we arrived back at our motel I went over to the office to get coffee for the morning. On the way back, I had to go down 3 steps to get to our room. My foot twisted on the second step and I went down like a bag of bricks. I got back up with the only apparent damage of a sore ankle. Back to my room with a little limp but not feeling too bad. Well, during the night things changed and when I got up at 3 am to use the bathroom I could hardly walk. And by morning it was a mess! After hobbling to the lobby for breakfast we headed to the nearest pharmacy to buy a tensor bandage and a cane. Our planned day was to go into ... read more

Make sure you watch the Indy 500 Parade tomorrow! From one of my previous trips to the Indy 500 Part of the festivities of the day before the big race is the big IPL Indy 500 Parade (on Saturday before the race). We have seats in the front row, and hope to see all of our favorite drivers. I am not too big on the celebrities, since most of them do not know the difference between a tire and a wheel. And some I am totally unaware of! A mere 300,000 people watch the biggest parade in the midwest. img=https://cosmicpimg-prod.services.web.outlook.com/proxy/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fen%2Fthumb%2F2%2F28%2FSoldiers_Sailors_Mon_IN_1898.jpg%2F220px-Soldiers_Sailors_Mon_IN_1898.jpg&t=eyJhbGciOiJSUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCIsImtpZCI6ImwveXhZeFJyZkcwYk9sQnYxRU1NdlgrME5tZz0iLCJ4NXQiOiJsL3l4WXhScmZHMGJPbEJ2MUVNTXZYKzBObWc9IiwiaXNzbG9jIjoiU0ExUFI4NE1CMzU0MyIsInNyc24iOjYzODUyM... read more

Today was our disembarkation day, meaning we leave the ship. We have reservations with VRBO for a nice house on the south side of Vancouver. The schedule they gave us last night said we can leave the ship at 8:45am, so we were up early and ready to go. Manoli decided to take all our luggage with us, so we wouldn't have to wait once we got off the ship. We sailed through Canadian Customs and made our way outside. Manoli had decided we'd take an Uber, but couldn't find one on her phone, so we caught a taxi. It was quite a trip, near the airport and about a 30 minute drive. It cost us $48 or so, Canadian, which is only $34 American. The VRBO was pretty nice, run by a family with 2 ... read more

Over the years, about four to five decades, I have traveled on business or pleasure. These are the few places I have been. Floret, Sea-Tac Airport: It’s time to taste! Take a sip and think about the flavors that hit your tongue. How do they compare or contrast to the smell? What do they remind you of? Remember, it’s okay if what you taste is different from what others taste. It’s also okay if your wine preferences aren’t the same as those around you. Either way, this is your opportunity to identify the tasting notes and to decide whether or not those characteristics are to your liking. The menu changes seasonally (another factor that makes this place stand out among airport dining options) but typically includes fresh, zingy Mexican-inspired dishes like quesadillas, tacos and avocado toast ... read more

The good news is that we are at a campground that has a laundry…yippee!, and internet. The bad news is that in order to use the internet we have to be at the laundry. Seeing as we just drove seven and a half hours, we are heading back to our RV and drinking. Will fill you in on today’s events tomorrow.... read more

The day started early. We had to be out of our room by 8 and the pickup for the shuttle to the airport was at 8:30. Why so early we will never know. We got to the airport and had 4 hours to wait after getting through security. Our flight didn't post when the gate was supposed to be announced. It was delayed. We already had a tight connection in Amsterdam and this was going to make it almost impossible. Finally the plane arrived and we took off. We landed in AMS with only about 30 minutes to get through passport control and to the gate in a huge airport. Luckily since so many folks from Bergen were on the Atlanta flight, the flight was delayed and we made it. Yea!!! Susan had the aisle seat ... read more

Today was our last day of cruising before docking at Vancouver. Unfortunately, there were to be no ports of call today, just cruising. Manoli felt sick, and thought maybe it was food poisoning, so I went down to the medical facility onboard to see what they thought. I told them her symptoms and that she thought it was food poisoning. They told me they could send a doctor up to our room, but that there would be a charge. After seeing the prices for stuff onboard, I told them I'd talk with my wife. I went back up and told my wife what they said, and she was in agreement with me. Not long after I got back to our room, the phone rang. Apparently it was the doctor checking on her. She told them she ... read more
