After a long and tedious difficult day at the airport in Bangkok, I finally arrived in Delhi.

I arrived at the airport 3 hours before the flight a good hour before suggested time in order to take my time and avoid unneccesary stress. Well that was a big mistake cause the stress started earlier. My flight was not listed on the departure screen. The only flight to Bagkok was scheduled one hour later than my flight and was a totally different number.
The indian airlines counter was closed because it was sunday. Finally after seeing many indian people go to the counter, wait around and leave frustrated, I decided to talk to them. They were all in the same situation I was.
We went to the counter once it finally opened and they put us on the 2 pm flight. Yes!
But then, this flight was delayed an extra 2 hours.
I tried not to worry, hoping that the guide that was expecting me in Delhi would be there to greet me.

She was thank goodness! It was 6:30 pm in Delhi but already dark.
We dropped off my bags at the hotel (nice hotel, clean rooms and running water), and went for a bite.

Today was my first day in Delhi. Saw my first cow in the street (sorry did not have time to take a photo just yet). Delhi streets are chaotic but amidst the chaos there is some sort of order.

Unfortunately Delhi is on a 3 day strike so all shops and the bazar was closed as well as the park where there is a memorial to Ghandi. All those visits were planned for today but we had to go to plan B.

We took a pedal rickshaw for a drive through the streets. Our driver was so skinny I felt sorry for him. Taking both myself and Valerie, my guide to the Great Mosque (the largest in India), then to the Sikh temple which was quite impressive.
It's hot but not as much as in Thailand.
I have been eating indian food which I really like which is a bit too bad since I was expecting to loose weight here. It might not be the case. Too bad for the rickshaw drivers.

In spite of all the 'madness' you seem to be having a good time and hopefully are not too lonely. Love reading your blogs, makes us feel closer to you. Keep having fun Julie, we miss you but are very happy for you. Big hugs from both of us.
