Mr and Mrs Bansal
Our host family... (he's really not as scary as he looks....) Hi all again,
Found a new internet cafe, with faster computers, XP and office picture manager... So have added photos 😊....
So, have now been to look around the various work areas. I'm at a school in the morning teaching 2nd and 3rd graders. And teaching English in the afternoon to a mixed group. Start tomorrow! Am meeting an old volunteer tonight who was teaching the 2nd/3rd graders until last week, so hopefully she'll be full of tips on what to do. We've already found ti quite hard though - there is a girl who will probably be in my class who clearly has dyslexia, but here they've never heard of it, so she's just been kept down a year, is very withdrawn and shy. Theres so little that can be done about children in that kind of situation here.
More shopping has been done! Now have a third Salwar Kameez, in a thicker material as I think winter's about to kick in... all I need now is jewellry to match ;-)
Yesterday morning we decided to walk to breakfast instead of catching the bus. The boys ran up to our house, promptly collapsing and blaming the

We had the day off - its eid, so the schools are on holiday. Went to Kangra, which first involved finding a bus to get there. The bus station is just full of buses, and the trick seems to be to wander round as the conducters shout out the destinations. 28rupees got us an hour and a half ride to Kangra. The town isn't very amazing, but the Fort is stunning. Its up a mountain, and having squeezed 7 into a tuk-tuk we were somewhat afraid of sliding back down the mountain again... I've posted some photos which hopefully give some kind of impression of the views, absolutely stunning. Every time you turn a corner theres a new view of the Himalayas - unfortunately unless its very very clear they don't really show up very well in photos. We got stuck at the fort until someone offered us a lift down.... so the seven of us squeezed into a jeep with a couple and their 4 children... don't think I've ever been in a car with

Will update again soon 😊 Probably going to McLeod Ganj + Dharamsala this weekend so see the Dali Lama.. (and if the previous volunteers are anything to go by, purchase lots of "Om Mani Padme Hum" t-shirts...)

Blimey
Looks like you're having an ace time. You could be the person to introduce dyslexia to the school. But call it something cool, like Disspellnitosis or Mad Mad Writing Syndrome. Or not. Either way its good to see you in your Salwar Kameez (did I pronounce that right?). Peace out.
