A beautiful view from the riverbanks
We escaped the city for the weekend again. This time we travelled three and a half hours north of BA into the province of Entre Rios and to the town of Gualeguaychu. Gualeguaychu is famous for its carnival weekends in January and February but, being October, we had to settle for tranquility and 28 degrees of sunshine. It was great.

We stayed in the Hotel Berlin where they were unbelievably friendly and helpful. We had hoped to cross the border into Uruguay to visit Frey Bentos but the bus times were not great for a day trip. Instead we walked alongside the river, sunbathed on a beach park, feasted on fish (dorado and boga were great, pati wasn't, and the surubi are escaping the fisherman right now, a shame as that's our favourite), took a river cruise and soaked in the nearby thermal baths.

We have come back to BA refreshed and raring to go on our next trip, probably in two weeks time!!

The Bridge at Sunset

The setting sun really highlighted the orange colour of this bridge. It was built by the Dutch but Trish is convinced that has nothing to do with the colour, she says it's just rust!

You can't beat a good soak in the thermal baths after a hard day of sightseeing. Unfortunately, nice though they were, the baths were not exactly picturesque, unlike the ones from Chivay in the mountains of Peru!

Gualeguaychu is the home of mate. This statue shows a lady with mate in one hand and a hot kettle in the other!

The cabanas on the other side of the river from the town looked great.
