Last full day at the park, woke to breakfast and morning poo scooping around the park, it has been quite a heat wave here, leaving everyone a bit lethargic. We then went and spent time with our new little pup ( I think his name is Ping) we walked him and showed him off, everyone loves him. He will be a good fit I think. Crazy, once we decided to adopt him it became very hard to turn him back over to the kennel people, knowing he has to spend the next month there. We promised him we would see him again soon. After lunch we grabbed our inner tubes and went floating down the Mae Tang river. We had our mandatory Chang beer in the big dark green bottle, but unfortunately I tipped out of my raft (while trying to get a picture no doubt) and my beer was submerged in the river. After careful consideration, we deemed it unsafe to drink, so sad.... There were men with long bamboo rafts, and elephant on the side of the river watching us cruise on by. The misty mountains perfect the backdrop and we are enjoying every minute. Our friends and a bunch of others left yesterday to take some elephants up the mountain. It was to be a 7 or 8 mile trek, and they were spending the night and returning by lunch today. We know they arrived safely but lost communication with them (not surprised with the shotty service) but now they are 5 hours late and we are a bit concerned. I am sure all is ok, but I will be happy to see them turn up, safe and sound. Tonight is a special dinner and the children come from the school to dance in costume. I remember it being lovely. For our last night after our special dinner and the kids dancing, we had our last foot/shoulder massage, and my massage lady Pawn tried to teach me a little Thai, she would laugh and laugh at my attempt to pronounce the words correctly, she was very sweet. By the time we went to bed, they had gotten word that our group of friends were safe and on there way back. They had apparently gotten a little lost in the jungle (so glad we didn't sign up for that! ) I wish we had a chance to hear about there adventure! We will leave early in the morning to fly to Phuket and head to the island Ka Yai Yoi, I can't wait but this week has been so special I'll miss the elephants and dogs....(one in particular a lot!)
