The couples 2 hour spa treatment was great, we got to be in the same treatment room and were handed paper underwear (and a hair net for me) VERY sexy! Dave asked for a deep tissue massage and he got a little more then he bargained for, a few times he said too much, and the ladies would laugh and carry on, amused. Then, in the early evening we went back to the river. I was happy to see the elephants were no longer working. We could see them from our property. We walked over the red bridge and down the path that the locals took and made our way over the suspension bridge about 150 feet over the river to the elephant park that was obviously closed to the public for the night. The locals were busily taking care of feeding the elephants and there were kids all over the place, swimming in the river.you could hear over the speaker system Thai music playing and people singing karaoke. It was a very festive atmosphere. The elephants were chained up for the night, and two young elephants were close to the fence that separated us. They seemed to be dancing to the music, just the young ones, it was really cute, they were bobbing there heads and swaying to the music, there was no doubt they were enjoying the evenings entertainment. We eventually made our way back to the hotel property and had a great meal outside, the weather couldn't be any better and it stays warm enough at night to enjoy the dining alfresco. Tomorrow elephant nature park. When we got picked up by the van we realized we were only about 20 minutes from the elephant park, just a little farther up the mountain. We arrived to many changes, most noticeably 30 more elephants! They are all over the place, and they are adopting the 70th this week. Of course moments after Dave tells me monkeys cannot be trusted and are nasty, and I promptly Poopoo him, lifting my phone to take a picture of the cute little guy they rescued, the little bastard stole my phone! He snatched it so quickly I didn't know what hit me! He quickly climb to the top of the cage chewing the cover off my phone, I begged and pleaded with him, trying my best negotiating skills to no avail. Suddenly , a pack of excited Thai women came on the rescue mission leading the monkey into a cage and somehow retrieving my phone, the monkey recorded a video of the whole event which I will post, I will not be living that one down anytime soon. We got the tour and before dinner local school children played music for us and then the local shaman performed a ceremony to protect us all this week. It was lovely and we all got a string tied on our wrist to keep us safe, only removing when it breaks natural y. We are totally wiped out and going to bed. I awoke with a big smile on my face hearing chirps grunts and trumpeting of elephants that rang through the park I was so excited, they were all greeting the day what a wonderful way to wake up! (if it hadn't been 3:30 AM) back to sleep awaiting our first full day at the park!
