when in rome, do as the romans do, well maybe not so much. they have an underlying philosophy to enjoy life as much as possible, well combine that with free bus passes and it can get to be a little much. oh but i LOVE it!!!! once again i went into rome yesterday. this time i went with molly, liz, and shauna. we were supposed to meet someone, but they never showed up, well at least not when we were there. i'm sorry to say that i did eat McDonald's, which i swear it will never happen again, here or back in the states. chalk it up to karma to get revenge via the bus system. it always seems that when i don't plan on walking around a whole lot and therefore wear the wrong shoes, i end up doing the most walking. taking a bus back from rome that night we were actually on the right line, i double checked. yet, we got the screwy driver who took the wrong route. go figure. so we ended up at castel gandolfo instead of due santi. we had to walk back to campus in the dark on a road with no shoulders (not very many streets actually have them). we got out some flashlights and waved cars to the other side of the road whenever they came near. quite comical really, i felt like an cop at some event. yeah, bad connection, but it still stands.
we have a lot on our plates this weekend. tomorrow we have our first art and arch. class in rome. we have to pick up a sack lunch from the mensa and then get on a bus to the capitoline museums. we'll be there till 5 and then have to make our own way back to campus. thursday is our only day off. we have classes till lunch and then we are going into rome, i still have to buy a bag. friday we have a fieldtrip to sperlonga and the shore. but really all the details will come after.
