At the end of the trail
I had my first race and it was really bad. First of all, I was too nervous. I have no idea why, because this race wasn’t important at all. The race was at eight in the morning, which sounds early for you guys, but actually it is too late. It is really hot already then. The first loupe was ok, but I got tired in the second one and then got a cramp. Well, it wasn’t super bad. I still finished 9th. On Friday we go to Hilo already. Big Island!!! Yes!
After the race we went to the beach. And it was Quinns first time in the ocean! She doesn’t like the salty water, however, I convinced her. And we had fun. We swam to a little island close by and I, of course, had to fall in the only existing hole on the island. It was a rocky island and I was talking, stepped back and crashed into the hole. Luckily, there was water in the hole, so that I didn’t get hurt too bad. Just a little bit.
Otherwise, the day at the beach was really nice. Back home, I went to the International Marketplace with Quinn. She

The whole group
had to buy postcards etc. for her family and friends. In the evening, the GSA had a meeting. We discussed some general stuff. However, I was too tired at the end. Sunday morning I went hiking again. It was a beautiful hike. We had such a nice view. Half of the team went. It was fun. Afterwards we went to eat pizza. Hopefully, I get the pictures soon. I know, that are the most interesting parts of the journals. But I have to wait for the pics, because I don’t have my own camera ;-( maybe I can steal pictures from Jennys side again. Hihi. What did I do Sunday afternoon? Oh ja, right, I had a BBQ with Jenny and her friends. This was fun. All we did was relaxing. We ate, talked and got some sun. By the way, I am getting pretty dark right now. Running in the morning helps ;-)
I was so tired that day that I went to bed at eight and slept for ten hours. So good! Monday was off, too. Luckily! However, I had a fun workout at seven in the morning. We ran up Tantalus. Casper, you remember? 4 miles uphill!

Taking a rest
It is a tough hill. It goes up for 4 miles and there is no downhill at all. We did pace runs up this hill. It was a good workout. We ran the trails downhill and then got fruits and something to drink. Thanks, coach! I was so tired after the workout that I went to bed again. my legs were hurting while I was lying in bed. In the afternoon, we had the Welcome Party for all the new Germans. There were so many. Crazy. However, after I had organized it all I spent more time with Jenny, then actually talking to the Germans. I know them all from the International Center anyways. Of course, I walked around and talked to everybody. But not too much. In the evening I ran for a while again and then got prepared for the first day if school. I don’t want to bother you with this stuff now. But I seem to have great classes with great teachers. I have only business classes. It finally becomes interesting.

Tantalus
Hey Inga, You bet I remember Tantalus, my favorite hill of all crazy hills, on which I had my craziest workout ever, together with Kenneth (let's just say it rained like hell... :-) Sorry to hear about your race, from what you wrote me I actually thought you did a good job, but apparantly not! :-) Well, grab your lederhosen and go for it next time. Hugs, Casper
