slightly corny title, but i'm tired, so forgive me.

yesterday some of us went into Albano to shop. they are having really wonderful sells and well, i've discovered that i have grossly underpacked. so away we went. i've been there before to get gelato a couple of nights ago, but this is the first time that i really strayed from the bus stop. the problem didn't really arrise until we tried to leave. well, we met up with another group, who acted like they knew what they were doing. so we get onto the bus that had finally arrived (bus schedules are sketchy at best) and we were off......the wrong way. instead of heading for dui santi we are traveling further uphill to castilgandolfo. it was not good. so we solicit the help of some random stranger on the bus and he directs us to get off at the next stop. so we do, and well we end up in a town we don't know and at a place that is just a bit shady. thank God luis was there. he can speak italian farely well and so we didn't look like complete fools, just minor ones (there were 12 of us). so we wait at this stop for nearly an hour. we are 8 km from albano, 2 km from marino (but we don't know anything there), and 20 km from rome. so we decide to call a cab cause the bus is obviously not coming. however, all the numbers that we were given upon arrival at the campus did not pick up. we were stuck and we didn't know where.

to our amazement and relief, a bus finally comes. so we traveled to Rome where we knew how to get back from. the point of the story is, we spent more time trying to get back than we did in albano, although we did find the lake:D

so after our adventures last night we decided that today we would go into rome, on purpose. we passed the spanish steps, found the pantheon, and the trevi fountain. not bad, but it was just so wonderful to walk around and not be the real tourist there. we passed groups of 20-30 ppl following a flag, and it was just a nice feeling knowing that atleast we knew something about where we wanted to go. my mission for today was to buy myself a bag, more like an oversized purse. that is what the italians use and most of the girls brought one, except for me, but i don't use one in the states anyways. so a bag, and shoes! they were sandals, strapy ones. that or high heels, but i'm not that stupid.

well i've got school for the next 2 days and we are going once more into albano, which i will get the right bus back. saturday there is a wine tasting trip planned and then la notta bianca, but more on that later.

arrivaderci. xoxo

Title?
Yeah, I don't like having to put a title for my comments. Anyways, I like that, I'm not the only one who refers to it as 'the states' anymore, haha. Hope you're having fun there, which it sounds like you are. If you go somewhere that you see a pretty italian girl, you should take a picture for me, hehe. It would be a great contribution to uhhh.... Science! Not sure how, but just do it, lol. Anyways, take care, and my Skype name is "owl645", just add me and it will tell me yours, that way if we're ever on at the same time we can talk.

italian girls
here's the deal, the italian guys here might be a bit lax in their social relationships, but definatly not the girls. they stay closed liped and never smile to guys, so you really wouldn't have the chance. that is the way we are supposed to act, it is sort of a barrier between us and the shady characters that are unwanted.
