We are in Frankfurt. We left DFW late yesterday, but still managed to get in on time. I don’t think I’m quite impressed with Lufthansa, I can’t even say it right. I really don’t have much to compare it too, but it was so crowded. There was a cat on board too, and I really don’t think it likes to fly.
Taking Sarah’s advice I didn’t sleep on the flight over, and I think I’m feeling the effects of that now. Either that or the sun is getting to me. I’m sitting by a window so I can see all of the comings and goings of the planes, but it is hot! A bit of a change after being on a plane with a flimsy blanket, still it is better than what it was when I went to India.
So our group flight has turned out to be many group flights within the actual UD group, ironic. Shauna (Chicago) arrived at Frankfurt at 6:30 this morning and left at 7:40, so she is already in Rome. Sarah (Georgia) arrived about the same time as I did. Rachel (New Jersey) and Colleen (Minnesota) arrived at
vineyardvineyardvineyard

this is our vineyard. we are going to harvest the grapes here pretty soon, like in two weeks and we are to produce somewhere around 15,000 bottles of wine. surrounding our campus are olive trees which we also harvest to make our own olive oil
the same time as I did, but they are in a different terminal (and it is big) and are leaving a couple of hours after us to Rome. I have no idea what we are going to do when we get to Rome, but I’m sure it will be a lot. Shauna and Breezy will already be in my room, which means I get whatever is left. I really don’t think it should be bad.
It hasn’t yet dawned on me that I’m going to be there for a whole entire semester. I’m in a state of perpetual summer, which is ok by me (without the painting preferably).
More people are arriving now, and it is just getting louder. Please let us point ourselves out that we are more American than what we seem.
From the loud Americans in Germany, Auf Wiedersehen!

Later.

So I’ve finally arrived on campus and settled down. It is small and so pretty. I’ve got half a mind to never go home, but I know by the end of the semester I will be tired of sleeping on the top bunk, which is what I got.
I missed the bus to campus from the airport cause my bag was stuck. I could see it, but no one would help me. It was just rolling it’s wheels refusing to fall down to where I could reach it. Some girl from Australia and I tried chunking some luggage that had been there for well over an hour at it, but we just got a stern talking to by an older Italian guy who didn’t quite approve of Americans. So to bring more attention to me, I pushed the emergency stop, yet no one came and helped at all. So after 15 minutes, someone turned it off so the others could get their luggage. I was literally nearly in tears. I didn’t sleep at all on the planes and I was feeling the jetlag bad. However it turns out that UD plans for occasions like these. Dr. Hatlie was at the airport to pick up the stranded, which turns out to be me. There was still another group flying in, so I wasn’t to worried, but I was defiantly not happy at all. At that point in time I was ready to turn around and go back home, but thank God I didn’t.
So I was shown the shortcut to campus and didn’t have to suffer the bus ride there, so there is a silver lining, it just doesn’t extend very far.
The campus is on the outskirts of Albano, population unknown. It is cute though. Of course I haven’t seen very much.
The rest of the day was long. We had dinner for the first time in the cafeteria, which was wonderful. Later on we had a meeting and dessert at the pool. After that we disbanded and I’m going to fall into bed. Till tomorrow which promises to be brutal.

Excitement is missed with shut eye
You should think about writing a book about your adventures. The book would be a comedy. I love you so much but you are so hilarious. I am sorry your bag got stuck but if you read this journal entry you would laugh at it to. Love you.
