How am I supposed to leave this guy?
Ok, I'm working on figuring out how to create a travel blog for my upcoming trip to Switzerland and London! Welcome to my very first entry! I'm not really into social media so I'm excited that I've figured this out so far.

Sooooo, preparation and training....

Prior to signing up for this bike adventure, Mike and I really weren't bikers. I remember going on a ride last year for a mini triathlon and feeling absolutely exhausted and sore after only 12 miles on the bike! Well we've been training as much as we can in between busy schedules. I can now ride 30-40 miles comfortably with few short breaks on Charleston's very flat terrain, but in very humid and hot conditions. We'll have to ride a bit (ok, a lot) more than that daily in Switzerland with quite a few more hills. Luckily we live near the only hill in Charleston- the Ravenel Bridge- and we have climbed that bridge quite a few times. I know it will be a challenge but I think we are up for it! I think the food and drink waiting for me at the end will keep me motivated!

more days to go, I think we finally have all the gear we'll need. We are pumped that we have figured out (still too early to say 'mastered') the clipless pedals with only one mini fall. It was really just me having a clumsy moment and blaming the pedals. I survived the hip slam to the concrete and got back up on that saddle. Now all we have to do is pack up and hop on a plane to Geneva on the 4th! Other than the biking, I'm also super excited to be visiting Europe during the World Cup. If the stars align I think Switzerland could play the US on the 5th? It will be really fun to watch some games there. The only thing we are not excited about is leaving our pup for two weeks. He'll be in good hands and staying with his doggie friends while we are gone. Follow me on this blog starting Friday to hear all about our trip to Switzerland and London!

I'll be most interested in your adventures. Do hope your tumble (due to the pedals) didn't leave you with a sore hip. Maybe there'll be a good P.T. in your tour group to give you some good advice. Have a great time!
