This tasted really foul - but they always say that bad tasting medicine is the best for you so....down the hatch!
Sorry for the lack of entries recently......we just wanted to post a quick update to let you know we're still alive and then we'll post properly tommorrow. Well - things with Jen's eyes got worse unfortunately and her vision became really poor in both eyes....we were forced to go back to the hospital and this time got to see a lovely female professor. Things started badly when Jen couldn't read below the top letter on the vision board even with her glasses and then Dr Wei proceeded to terrify us by sucking in her breath and saying 'oh my god' when looking at Jen's eyes through the slit lamp - very comforting! Apparently Jen had now developed bad swelling of the cornea in both eyes which the doctor felt was due to a viral infection that had got in through the abrasions. She changed Jen's eyedrops to 3 new ones (one of which needed to be kept at 4C - not so easy when backpacking in this heat!) and also gave her vitamin B, some tasty traditional chinese medicine liquid and gave us a long talk about how China is very dirty and we must be very careful! She also asked us to come back and see her in 2 days for review so the trip we had booked to go down south to Guilin was off. We were both feeling very sorry for ourselves and so booked into a lovely 4star hotel so we could relax and enjoy the stay.

Anyway - as we are now posting from Guilin you can see we got there in the end - we'll post tommorrow and update you on the Great Wall and our trip across the country.

Poorly eyes
Well I hope you are on the mend. Even your eye entries alone are gripping material. 'Oh my God' from a doctor never really settles anyone, I must remember not to do that. Yes 'Happy anniversary' also. Ulf and I are back in Sweden for another wedding which should be lovely. Seeing all the green fields here is making me wish I was not doing this year in London. It is so not in keeping with my hermit/wild roamer/lover of nature personality who wants to nurture goats and pigs for a living. Please take me to Mongolia.......... Love HelenX
