The first of many swimming spots. Love the white pebbles!
Neither of us got any sleep as it was too hot and just as you almost passed out, mosquito’s would buzz around you head and wake you up!

We got ready and headed down to the Jetty to catch our cruise boat. However, we had no idea where to catch it from! We hung around the marina for a while, but there was no sign of the boat. We walked down the road a little and then bumped into Kate and John on the way. Thankfully we got there just in time!
We later found there was a giant sign saying “PAXOS BOAT DEPARTURE POINT”. Oops!

We jumped on the boat and cruised to Paxos Island, south of Corfu, and stopped at a little sea side village, Lakka, for an hour. We got some food and drink from a local bakery and set off in search for a beach that we had seen as we arrived in the harbour.

After heading in the wrong direction up a large hill, we turned around and headed back towards sea level and down a small pathway we had passed along the way. We finally found our beach, and the wait was

worth it.
The beach was carpeted by while pebbles which descended into the clear blue water. We got in without hesitation, the water was refreshing, but again quite salty. John was apparently a bit apprehensive about swimming in the ocean, and decided to stay ashore despite our utmost attempt to persuade him. But it was definitely his loss!

Before long, it was time to get out and head back to the boat. Luckily this time we found a shorter route back to the boat along the waterfront.

We cruised around to the west side of the Island and were shown some of the massive caves that were used to hide the U-boats in during the war. The white cliffs towered vertically above us, extending high above the waterline and appeared to continue in the same manner deep under water.
The size of the caves was mind boggling. Our large boat could fit well inside the caves without any effort!

We then cruised over to the Island of Antipaxos, which was just south of Paxos. We anchored off a popular, but most beautiful bay, with water bluer than I have ever seen before!

Never seen such blue water!
had dived off the top level of the boat into the water. Kate and I decided that the slightly lower, but still thrilling option of jumping from the lower level was a more appropriate way of avoiding the queue down the steps.

After a good hour or so of swimming around and looking at the sea life, we once again hauled up anchor and set off north back to Paxos. We cruised up to a small fishing village, Gaios, on the lower east coast of Paxos for about 2.5 hours.

First stop was lunch. We found a nice little café on the harbour’s edge called “Deep Blue Yacht Café.” After lunch and a much deserved chocolate milk shake, we headed along the waterfront to a nice little white pebbled beach for a swim. John finally agreed to come in and I’m sure, thoroughly enjoyed himself!

We reluctantly got out of the water and headed back to the boat with only seconds to spare. As soon as we got on the boat, they lifted the steps and set sail back to Corfu.
Half way back we were treated by seeing a small pod of dolphins swim past us.

We swapped our hand sketched map up to the old village for a Europe adaptor and book with Kate and John and said good night. After an exhausting day, we grabbed a drink from the supermarket and headed back to our hotel.

We had some good old ‘Pot Noodles’ to keep us going and had a bit of a snooze.
A while later we woke up and managed to finally drag ourselves out of bed to the supermarket before it closed to get some sausages and bread for dinner. After a mission of trying to make something even vaguely tasty we had to settle for what was in front of us.

We went for a walk along the main road and talked to a guy about hiring a scooter. After looking at it, we thought it was a good idea for Leo to have a test drive. It didn’t take long to convince me that there was no way I was getting on that bike.

We decided to either get a 4x4 bike or catch the bus to Corfu Township tomorrow instead.
