It's been a long while since my last travels and an even longer time since I shared my adventures on this site. Today however I thought I would 'kick-off' my count down to my next adventure - Costa Rica!
Official start date of my internship with GVI (www.gvi.co.uk/programs/conservation-internship-costa-rica if you'd like more details) is
11 January 2014 (in bold and underlined no less) so I have 12 weeks of work and 98 sleeps to go...not that I am counting.
For those that don't know I am hoping to gain experience in the rainforests of Costa Rica so I can start a conservation-based career. The plan is to work and live alongside their research team who will hopefully train me up on a range of skills which will include data processing, biological surveys, camera trapping, species identification etc. Once initially trained, I will then work with the team to help run and manage their conservation projects or work with one of their partner organisations in wildlife and habitat conservation. To say I am excited and nervous is an understatement. I have no idea if I am going to be any good at the things they need us to do, but I will endeavour to give it my bestest and fingers crossed this will be the start of something more amazing then I can do justice with in my feable English.
I will at some point add some photos and keep you all bored about my preparations - but until then I need to crack on with learning some Spanish and working out what else I can sell before I leave!

Dearest Sharon, I am so excited for you already wishing you all the best and happy preparation for the trip of your life! And what is this, you are not sure if you'll be any good at what they will want you to do?! It's your passion, it's what you want to do, so OF COURSE YOU'LL BE GOOD!! Lots of love Cxxx
