Riomaggiore
The harbour Off to the Cinque Terre again but this time planning to visit the towns by train and wearing comfortable footwear! Perfect sunny weather again. Took the train to Riomaggiore, the furthest of the towns & enjoyed a walk around the town. We found a bar/café with a great view over the marina & stopped for lunch. Back to the station to catch the train to the next town, Manarola, but the train took off and went through the next 3 towns without stopping – apparently it was a train that was running behind schedule but no explanation from the station announcer. Never mind – we were back in Monterosso where we finished our walk yesterday. Another walk around the town and along the beach was very pleasant and, after a coffee, (very good for a change!), we decided to take a boat to Manarola, the town we had missed earlier. The boat ride was really good and offered beautiful views of the towns and the steep hills along the coast. We could also see a couple of land slips which no doubt were the reason that 2 sections of the tracks were closed. A walk around Manarola then back on the
train to Levanto – another very full day.
All the towns were very attractive and very “touristic”- well worth visiting – and despite the state of the walking tracks between the towns, we had a really good workout.

Cinque Terre
My wife and I are planning our third trip to Europe, this time including a very short two day visit to the CT. In view of our limited time would you kindly suggest an approach that we may take to get the most out of that visit? I have always been attracted to Vernazza but Levanto and Monterosso also appeal. Thank you for your help. I enjoyed your blog. Mine is at www.mytb.org/whirl-traveller
