Edit Blog Post
Today is our last day in Cuenca. The sun is shining; it is reaching the end of August and the cold rainy stuff we have become reluctantly used to is gone. It is warm and the streets are full of South American and European turistas, locals just loving the warmth and folks with big smiles for the end of the short winter.
We decided we could not leave without publishing just one more blog. This blog is a simple walk in the parks, streets and sidewalks of Cuenca, with camera in hand. Cuenca is truly a beautiful city and well deserving of its international reputation for stunning architecture, super clean streets and parks (sidewalks are swept day and night and power washed twice a week and there is a waste disposal container on every corner). It easily stands the test of a world heritage city. Art work on public buildings, beautifully designed cement tile sidewalks, cobbled streets (soon to be free of cars and buses) and nice place to just sit and people watch make this place a very liveable one.
It is an easy city to stroll in and enjoy all the crazy and nice things that happen
on a city street every day; from lovers in the parque Tomebamba to traffic jams that take place from about 4PM on to about 7; from beautiful restaurants to noisy boombox tiendas selling an interesting combination of flat screen TV"s/dish and clothes washers and , of all things, motorcycles. We always figured that when we shopped again for a a TV we would try to get a bargain on a dirtbike.
Anyway, our walk in Cuenca is not something words can describe anywhere near as well as photos. So come and take a photographic walk with us before we leave this truly beautiful place.
Ciao.... talk with all of you again from Green Valley after we get back on Monday.
