Before we left Mendoza, whilst waiting for our late, rattling heap of a bus (that kept us awake all night). Lynny somehow disturbed an old lady tramp. The old lady proceeded to get up and start hurling abuse at us! I sent Lynny outside through the door we were standing by whilst I said "no entiendo, disculpe!" ..... to which the old tramp swung her walking stick and hit me!!! Luckily at this point an Argentinian lady came over and told her to go away. As you can imagine we had a good laugh afterwards.

Anyway, Cordoba ..... we didn´t really think much of it. Argentines second largest city and it is all shops, every road crammed with people. Nobody seems to work, they just wander the streets all day.

There were a couple of towns a short bus journey outside of the city that we spent the daytimes visiting. The first was Villa Carlos Paz, sitting on a big lake. A strange little town which for some strange reason have erected a giant cuckoo clock in the middle of a roundabout! Lynny was particularly excited about this. We made our way there for midday and amazingly, so had about 30 other tourists. The clock and its hourly display was so bad that it was funny! This stiff wooden cuckoo barely moved out of his home and the noise it made was hilarious! There was not a lot to do in town so punish Lynny for dragging us to the clock I decided to try fishing the lake. We saw some bamboo canes with a line and hook attached for about 20 pence. Somehow, we went into the shop and 20 minutes later came out with a full telescopic fishing set ..... rod, reel, line, floats, bait ..... the lot. All for a snip at 10 pound, and it fits into my rucksack! I caught bugger all on the lake but I am sure I will have success somewhere else on the trip.

The next day we went to Alta Gracia. Home to some nice old buildings and also the famous Che Guevara for some of his childhood. There is a Che museum in his old home which was pretty cool. On the Saturday night, we went clubbing. We hadnt been been since Bs As really and Cordoba has an abundance of nightclubs, so we thought why the hell not! It turned out to be a great night, the music was wicked! The DJ was about 50 years old but clearly a a wise old hand ..... Carlos Alfonsin, we salute you.
