Hello happy readers, get set for the next installment of the Great Blondini tour.

Since our last update we have had a great time but are glad to get out of the heat and humidity and catch up with brother and sister and cousin in London.

So
Since our last update we were about to go for a look at Raffles and have a singapore sling in the famous long bar. Raffles was great and is named after the "father of Singapore" Stamford Raffles. For $20 you get the cocktail & all the peanuts you can eat - they encourage you to chuck the shells on the floor so everywhere you walked there was crunching underfoot!

We also booked into a cooking class with the At-Sunrice cooking academy (sounds flash, and it was). The theme was Malaysian cuisine, so there were 2 cooking demonstrations by a Malay chef & then we made 3 dishes ourselves - it was the best Malaysian food we've ever had... we even had a kitchen b*tch (a junior chef at the cooking school) & it was his sole job to run around after us and assist us with the cooking & the dishes, excellent!

The other highlight of the past week was our excursion to Bintan Island resort for our 'belated honeymoon' - what a beautiful place (if a little touristy!) The resort is about an hours ferry ride south of Singapore and is part of Indonesia - white sandy beaches, palm trees, cocktails by the pool... what more could you ask for?!?! Well, a Javanese massage by the beach - these tiny Indonesian women pound the crap out of you for an hour while you're lying on a comfy mattress in a fale-style hutt right on the beach, awesome. Diving was expensive & the vis was bad (we even saw some oil deposits on the rocks around the water's edge, yuck), but we went for a snorkel further round the coast and saw little Nimo's and heaps of other tropical fish; it was fun.

The low-light of the trip was Sentosa Island - it was like the Santa Cruz of South East Asia. It's an island 5 minutes to the south of Singapore and it's like Rainbow's End with a fake beach full of ballast water from the huge amount of cargo ships in the nearby port... utter crap. Well, except for the butterfly house which was not too bad, even got a few photos for the nieces & nephews (hi Alex & Zoe!).

We finally left Singapore yesterday for London, where Anna & Nick met us at Heathrow and took us back to their flat for NZ mussels & blue cheese, yum! So good to see family and friends again 😊 This morning we moved to the Tower Bridge area to sister Jennifer & Ryan's flat for the rest of the week, and caught up with Sarah's bro Andrew & Lynette this avo at a pub along the Thames walk on Southbank - a big jug of Pims & a few beers later we were feeling the jet lag again 😞

Anyway here's a few photos of the trip, Bintan, and the butterfly shots for the kids.
