This morning we head north to the capital of New Zealand, Wellington, but first we must navigate once again through the mountains on some of the most winding roads that I have ever encountered. Greg did a fabulous job of driving and within 2 hours we were at the Ferry terminal in Picton. We returned our rental car and after a short time we were boarding the ferry. Thanks to Deb our crossing included use of the lounge which had snacks and lunch included as well as free Wi-Fi. Up until now our Wi-Fi had been hit or miss. The trip was 3-1/2 hours, but went by very fast as we were all busy catching up on things via the internet, posting pictures, sending emails. Its funny how much we depend on this technology and without it we don't quite know how to cope. The crossing was rather calm. I understand that often that is not the case. We all went out on the deck to see the view and again when pulling into the port at Wellington. After renting another car, we made our way to the hotel to check in and saw a Farmer's market that we wanted to

check out. We dropped off our bags, had a quick orientation and then left the hotel to explore. We went back to the Farmer's Market, which was closing down as we approached. Next we walked along the square and found a swimming area where kids were jumping off of a ridiculously high platform. We watched for awhile and then a short while later came across a circus act called Campground Circus which was drawing a crowd. I thought they were quite entertaining doing aerial acts. Next there were some more food venders and musicians at a nearby park.

We were all exhausted from the drive from Nelson, so we went back to the hotel and had a nap until it was time for dinner. I picked a place called Two Souls which was within walking distance. It was a small restaurant, but the food was exceptional. After dinner, we waled back to the hotel and had a quiet night in. John was the most tired I have ever seen him. We went to bed early and were happy that we were going to have a later start the next morning.

Hi George & John I am really enjoying reading about your travels. When you travel on your own versus tour group you can enjoy picking out your own restaurants seeing exactly what interests you at your own speed. Happy travels---Sharyn
