2nd Mar – Today we went to Uda Walawe. We got a van there. When we stopped to have a break mum noticed one of the tyres was shredding. The man said, “it’s okay we’ll be fine”. When we started we also noticed you could hear this slapping noise under the car and the man was finding it hard to brake. Dad said “this is too dangerous, let’s get a tuk tuk”. The man said “no, no I will change it it will take only 5-minutes”. We got a tuk tuk it would have taken more than 5-minutes and all his tyres were bald. Sophie

Today we went on a safari and there were lots of animals and birds and we saw many elephants. We saw a baby one and one with tusks (only 100 in Sri Lanka), There were monitor lizards everywhere, their bite is only 10x less than a cobra. There were buffalos just laying in the cool of the water. When we got to a boggy area we saw 2 crocs, one was 3-metres long and very well camouflaged. There were lots of green bee eaters, which were really colourful; red, green, and black. In a winding tree there were some macaque monkeys (there was a baby one). When we got to the middle of the park, we saw 2 turtles and loads of frogs. There were immense numbers of peacocks, the boys were colourful and the ladies brown. The were 2 serpent eagles, which were massive. One was eating a snake and one was eating a chameleon. On the way out we saw a jackal/dog, which was a real scavenger. Jonathan
