The Amazing Samson (sam SONE) in a live acrobatic performance off Komodo Island last July (2005). Despite the language barrier (our first successful attempt at communicating in Indonesian was "The fish eats the squid" in reference to their hand-line fishing and bait) Becky and I spent the afternoon being silly with Samson and Unen, our deckhands, leaping off various levels of this rickety old boat. Samson was the only one fearless enough to go all the way to the top.
As Sarah (a teacher I work with) and I prepare for departure to Belize and Guatemala, I want to make sure this site is smooth for me keeping you updated and you trying to make sense of me keeping you updated. Huh? In other words, this blog entry is both a test for those of you new to travelblog and for me trying to post photos from the site to which they were uploaded. Technology continues to amaze me. No matter how remote I think I am, I am rarely more than a day away from a computer for sharing, agonizing, and laughing through stories and adventures to be read by your eyes that very hour. I suppose one would say I wasn't all that remote after all...

Well.....I certainly pray that the adventures that await you are all that you hope them to be! You are an amazing girl.
