Namaste from Little India, Singapore.
We only arrived on Sunday and feel like we've already sweated out 10 kg's each. Thank God that every hotel and shopping mall is air conditioned!
We've already found the greatest food hall where Scott had the famous Singapore Chilli Crab washed down with singapore' finest - Tiger beer. We even had Nasi Lemak for breakfast - rice with eggs, nuts, cucumber, spring onions and special chilli sauce (I was in heaven!) but am now suffering the effects of 3 chilli meals a day (bring on the dia-stop!!!) We came to Little India to get a curry but I think we'll be heading for Burger King instead 😞
We've already had a great look around the city on the free tourist bus, and will be off to the Night Safari tonight... lions and tigers and bears (oh no!), and Scott is hoping to see & touch the monkeys (?!).
We're also off to Raffles today for gin slings and high tea - this whole place is geared up to tourism, so we have the 'buy one get one free' deals everywhere. Then tomorrow off to Bintan, Indonesia for the night - it's
a resort island 1 hour away from Singapore - we're really looking forward to it.
It's hard to decribe Singapore - it reminds me of Vegas in that there are thousands of glittering shops and the heat is almost too much, but it' a great place for a stop-over and the service is out of this world (they even have an ad on TV asking people to 'go the extra mile and put a smile on your dial' - cheesy!). Food is cheap if you don't go the hotels and touristy places, and you can get cheap beer if you haggle with the locals (we even saw a 5L keg of Heineken for $55!!!) Poor Scott.
(Don't worry I've sniffed out the closest and cheapest beer places already - Scott)
Anyway, time to download the photos from our new camera
xx
