Hola everyone. We are still having fun on our Costa Rican Quest tour!

We packed up on a chilly and windy morning from Monteverde to start our trek to the Pacific Coast. It was amazing how the weather changed and became hotter and hotter as we got closer to the ocean. On the way we stopped for some fresh fruit and had a look at a bunch of crocodiolios sunning themselves in the river. A scary sight!!!

We arrived in Manuel Antonio mid morning. We were pleasantly surprised when we checked into our room at The Blue Monkey Hotel to find we had a huge luxurious suite with two king sized beds and white leather furniture fit for a king! And to top it off, our room was only steps from one of the pools and there were monkeys playing in the trees above! Not sure how we were lucky enough to get this fancy room!

The hotel is interesting in that they support a childrens´organization that raises funds and awareness to protect the wild life in the area in particular the monkeys. An example is they have built special cables and bridges for the monkeys so they have a safe place to cross the streets and avoid such things as electrical wires.

Manuel Antonio is the home of a national park and is set in a beautiful tropical forest. The park has some lovely hiking trails through the forest and ends up at two very nice beaches suitable for sunning and swimming. We spent the day there with our tour group. It was very relaxing and peaceful as they don´t allow vendors, restaurants or stores in the park.

We also spent some time at the public beach. A massive place with lots of locals and tourists alike as well as vendors of all kinds, restaurants, sodas (a fast food confectionary), beach bars and souvenir shops. A happening place!!

We had some beautiful sunset dinners in the area. There are many excellent restaurants and while the food is not real cheap, it is reasonable and the atmposphere is worth the price! The pina coladas are so fresh and tasty.

We headed back to San Jose where we started our tour and reluctantly said good bye to our group. They were all such great people and we had so much fun with them. It´s amazing how only after a few weeks, they become your temporary family! It will be quiet as we continue our vacation with the just the two of us.

We highly recommend G Adenture Tours. It´s such a great and economical way to experience a new country and culture in a small group setting led by a local guide.

Take care everyone! Next stop . . . . Samara
