Desert Rats!Desert Rats!Desert Rats!

Tom & Karen
We stopped at Coach Care in Phoenix to get the motorcoach's annual service. We found ourselves in the middle of an eight-lane interstate with semis merging left and right. Sandwiched inbetween, we got side-swipped twice. Our first (and hopefully last) traffic event. Even though our passenger side-view mirror was hit, in Tom's words, "We're still alive!." Thank you Lord.

Since that didn't kill us I mapped us to Ehrenberg and reserved a Kawasaki ATV for a day of play. Steve Berns, the General Manager at River Breeze RV Resort graciously offered to show us his desert. Now the cost of this was very reasonable even BEFORE Steve offered to come. He really knows this part of the desert and showed us a thrilling afternoon. Reminicsent of ATVing with our friend Kat at Verde Valley Thousand Trails, this was awesome!

We took trails through the Yuma Proving Grounds. Steve showed us old gold mines and capped the day with a stop in Turquoise Canyon. I would recommend this trip to everyone.

We're now back in Casa Grande for the holidays. This morning Tom looked out our window and found a coyote standing on the six-foot wall looking for breakfast!

I got his picture right after he jumped! We hope everyone had a warm and lovely Christmas. Good wishes and good health in 2013!

Desert Rats,
Hi Karen and Tom, Wow-- scary adventure with the 8 lane highway. I am so glad that you are both Ok. I hope you never experience anything like that again. Glad to hear you had some fun time on the ATV to unwind after the side-swipping episode. Again the pictures are awesome. Looks like it was a little cool as I see jackets on. The turquoise and quartz are beautiful. I remember seeing a lot of that as a kid. The coyote in your picture looks like a dog to me. That kind of thinking would get me in trouble. I wish you both a Happy, Healthy and SAFE New Year! May God Bless!!

Coyote
Yes Joannie, the coyote looked like a dog to me too. Perched on top of a 6' wall that was 4" wide and how did he get there? Thanks for reading. We always enjoy your comments.
