We said cheerio to Sydney with a leasurily breakfast in delightful Rushcutters Bay Park. We arrived in Hobart @ 4.30pm, where the weather was noticeably chillier. Our evening meal was taken at a curious establishment - a combined chippy/fishmonger/ice cream - where we both had fish (blue grenadier - like cod) & chips. It transpired that our hotel room was situated over the dining room and bar and so a tad noisey - so we went with the flow and pottered down to the bar.

Thursday started sunnily and with Charles and Camilla due in town shortly we made a quick exit, courtesy of Kate's friend Pat and Pat's aunt June . A quick coffee at her aunt's house (which had spectacular views over the River Derwent) and we were on the road to the Tahune AirWalk - stopping for the now obligatory coffee break at Geeveston. The visit involved a walk through the forest, an airwalk through the rainforest canopy and crossing rivers on swing bridges - a really exhilerating experience!! What's more we managed to sandwich this into a sunny spell between torrential rain!!

The grim weather persisted and so we scampered over to a local up-market

Pizza place in the evening, where JC clearly ate too many potato wedges with his portion of pizza!!

Kate's Thoughts

In some ways sad to leave Sydney we so enjoyed the ferries and the bays but Tasmania is beautiful and so green and nice to meet up with Pat and June

I was very brave going over the swing bridges! No seriously it was truly specatacular walking so high up amog the trees. An unforgetable experience

We are hoping to swap rooms tomorrow so that we may revert to our early nights- I get the feeling John wouldn't mind this one so much if the music was folky or even any good.
