Wednesday 24th October

Another early start as we were travelling to the famous site of Delphi, it is about a 3hr drive from Athens but well worth the drive. I kept pinching myself as it seemed like it was a bit of a dream that I was on my way to visit a place I have been dreaming of going to for a long time... Another one off the bucket list... Unbelievable how lucky are we to be here.

The town of Delphi is on a mountain side and in winter the opposite side of the mountain is a snow resort, the township is very quaint and cute with a road through it just wide enough for the bus to get through.

We left Athens with it raining quite heavy really, it wasn't cold at all just wet and as we drove climbing up the mountain the top of the mountains were covered in fog, we had no idea what the day was going to be like in Delphi.

As we got higher so the sky cleared and we were able to see into the distance and out to sea, there were people from all over the world again today which always makes the journey interesting as we all experience things at the same time but differently. The day ended up being sunny and warm a beautiful day.

We arrived at Delphi and wow I'm not sure i can describe how wonderful it is, the ruins are quite incredible and breathtaking it is built up on the side of the mountain and as you climb up you get so much appreciation of exactly what it was like, the size of it is huge. Col and I climbed up and enjoyed the energy of the place and the view from the top was incredible out over the beautiful Greek mountains. The people of that time before christ were real craftsmen, the museum next door has many of the statues that were discovered when they excavated the area Including parts of a chariot and its rider all built from bronze.. The old digital photo of the time of the champion riders.

Col wandered up to the stadium at the top of the site whilst I sat and meditated on this amazing spot, the energy was really clear. When you take the time and stop and think about how they built these incredible large stone temples and sanctuaries and that they are still standing now. I will include photos once we down load them.

The space and place is wonderful I loved being there today. The trip back meant we could have our afternoon nap and we were able to go to my favourite restaurant Smile tonight And try traditional greek food yummy loukoumades.. Donuts and honey mmmm the Greek people are so generous this is the second time we have had desert provided for us..

Tomorrow sees us taking it easy doing our last visit to zeus temple and the acropolis museum and watch the guards at the memorial do their thing, as on Friday we fly out to night nighty night dear friends. Xxx
