Edit Blog Post

Right, here are some photos from rosario where we did 'rappel'. that was quality (thanks leo!). I'm sure I thought I was spiderman there for a while but edel soon put me back in my box. After rosario we went to posadas (not intentionally- its in another blog) and on to puerto Iguazu (also in another blog). From there we went to corrientes and spoted the murals (nice, huh?). Didnt do much there besides actually, coz it was just a day trip and we were waiting on a connecting overnight bus to salta, but heres a story........

'after a particularly uncomfortable overnight bus trip from Iguazu, during which the bus got stopped by the police because they saw the pair of us sitting at the front (whats going on with that like! They insisted on checking our passports and bags, made some comment about how we would only speak spanish if it suited us, and then proceeded to take the only other passenger, an Argentinian native, off the bus to question him IN ENGLISH about why he wasnt carrying a passport, weirdos) we arrived in Corrientes.'-del. Although we had been planning to spend a night there, we were tired and narky and didn´t feel like looking for a hostel so we decided to just head straight to Salta. That wasn´t to be either though as we had to wait til 6.30 in the evening for the bus! So lugging all our current earthly goods we headed into town in search of food and something to make the stopover worthwhile.

So back to the murals.... they were well cool, covering about 150 metres of wall and depicting the history of South America, beginning with mother earth, to native tribes and their customs and habits, then the arrival of the conquistadores and the slave trade, and ended with culture today. The murals themselves were done in a 3d style, very hard to explain for one not well versed in artistic terms but suffice to say it all looked very cool and ye can check out the pics for yourselves! So after a brief wander around the port and some church and since it was Sunday and there was feck all open we sat down in a park and spent the next few hours amusing ourselves with a pack of cards, i taught Kev how to play Fish and beat him 9 times in a row before he caught me out, good job! We switched (ba dum-bum) to Switch/Kings then and that kept us going for a while before we decided to head back to the station and spend another night on the bus to Salta!

When we finally got to Salta we went up 'cerro bernardo', which was deadly, via tele-cab thingy's,(fenicular, i've just been informed by del!) im sure theres a pic there somewhere. Now there's a cool little city, well when I say little I mean 500 thousand! We chilled out in Salta for a couple of days coz the two of us had the shits of shifting from place to place witout really taking time to enjoy each spot. It's kinda difficult to fit everything in when your rushing from town to city trying to see it all, it's just imposible, so we took a little break for ourselves.

Salta was well cool actually, I tried their famous salta beer, and del convinced me that this was the birth place of the empanada so we headed off to a fancy ass restaraunt and tested their cusine (some empenadas, some humitas and other bits and pieces), very nice I must admit, all served to us I might add in customary clothes of the area....cool as cats!

We spent a couple hours cruising around salta checking out the chicks... eh I mean sights, and even got a bit of sunbathing in, the weather was savage for a good few days in salta actuallly. The pic of the railway is actually one that is still in use and not just the ghost station that it seems, it was well cool at night but we jus never got round to getting a photo of it!
