girls including coach My accident on Monday traumatized me a bit - I get a little freaked out on the drive now! haha! Unfortunately, my neck is still a little stiff; when I turn my head more than a little, it is a reminder of the incident. I tried to call the police later Monday afternoon to report it, after he dropped off my laptops. They sent me around three times then I got a guy who said basically, if I wasn't in a car accident right now, they didn't care. I should call RTA and report him, but the call with the police put me off.
Anyway, the rest of the week was pretty nice. We got out of work early on Wednesday and Thursday for the end of Ramadan. We also have Sunday and Monday off for the Eid holiday, which is the celebration of the end of Ramadan. So a four day weekend - woohoo!
Wednesday, I went to soccer for the first time without Jamie. During Ramadan, we had practice from 9-11 pm and I had to take the metro. The metro was nice and delivers me directly to the sports complex, I almost missed the last train
Our group...
in one of our many photos of the day! Fortunately, it will be earlier next week.
Thursday, I ordered my ticket online to go see The Dark Knight Rises in the VIP theater at 8:45. It was awesome. It was a nice long movie, I got to order some nachos, and I really enjoyed it! I loved the ending.
Friday was a nice lazy day - I slept in, did some reading, researched some geneaology, ordered some food.... Nice. But it was a busy night. First I met a few coworkers at the Belgian Beer Cafe for drinks and dinner. Two of them had been working tirelessly on a huge proposal lately, and one was a big wig from the US who'd been flown in to help. It was nice to get to know him and my other coworkers on a more personal level. I got the salmon again - so delicious! I just love this location - a huge fancy resort right on the water with views of the Burj al Arab. They have a "souk" type atmosphere inside, but it is very touristy and expensive. Very nice to look at though.
Afterwards, I took a taxi (yikes!) to the west crescent
of the Palm Jumeirah to meet my soccer (I mean football!) teammates at a tent to get to know them better. The "tent" was actually like an audience hall or auditorium in a real fancy resort hotel. Noof, Sarah, Fatima, Alia, Reema and our coach Paul - we played some cards (bullsh*t!) and I got to know just a little bit about each of them. No alcohol; I just had a pineapple juice.
Since my coworker paid for the first event and the second was not nearly as expensive as I thought it would be, I spent significantly less money than I'd planned. It was a very fun evening. I had planned all these awesome things to tell you about, but I forget them! Enjoy the photos!
