It's crazy to think that in a few days, we'll already have been in Argentina for a full month...it's going so fast...maybe simply because the kids have a great time at school, at home, and visiting Buenos Aires...
Being the winter here, we play around with the weather...over the last week, we had heavy rain, and full sunshine days with twenty degrees....and it's changing everyday...but the good news is that the weather forecast is pretty acurate.
The Subte has been on strike now for 10 days...this means not a single metro for ten days...I didn't expect to use it much, but the side effect is the congestion on all the buses. Living in Buenos Aires means you learn to live with the strikes, but I'm impressed how people stay nice with all those issues....crowded buses yes...still really nice people queueing orderly to go in them...told you Argentinans are nice people!
The kids really love their school! The only little trouble, is that we are going to have to get organized for sleepovers...a lot of their friends live in Estancias, and some of those are a good 50km away from here...not really an
easy ride in a taxi to pick up after a playdate! But trust me, as always, we'll be creative...somewhere...I'm pretty motivated to try to get those sorted too to make sure I can enjoy also some of the nightlife of Buenos Aires!
Last week was the second at school for Tiffany and Leslie at school...and the first week of "my" school. I'm on a 20 hours a week castellano (spanish) program...all this over three weeks. I was already able to get around with a pretty extensive vocabulary, but with a non-existing grammar...so now, it's time to tackle the grammar...it goes seriously fast...and between the classes, the transfers, taking care of my business plus Leslie and Tiffany...trust me, the only thing I want to do currently for my nightlife...is sleeping...
We had a Saturday full of rain, and a Sunday full of sunshine. Buenos Aires visit is not completed without a visit to Evita! Been here five times since 2004, and I never even made it once to the inside of the Cemetery of the Recoleta...I'm a bad tourist! So for the rainy day, we went first for a great lunch of milanesa con provolone...and
than the Museum of Evita. It's a pretty simple affair, but a really clear explanation for the kids and myself of maybe the most well-known citizen of Argentina. It was raining so much that we made it early back to home, not after having first checked the menu at Astrid & Gaston...if you know something about the food-scene in Lima...this is the deal, and they have an outpost in Buenos Aires....Astrid & Gaston....we are coming end of the month...but without the kids!
Sunday was sunny...sunny!! Leslie and Tiffany love to ride bicycles...and in Bangkok, it's not that easy. Here you can rent bicycles in town...but it's simply out of the question to let them ride in town...I love them...alive! So we made our way to the Park of the 3rd February...they close few roads...and you can ride along a lovely little lake...next time, it could also be go-karts...or even renting some rollerskates...ok...all of those look older than me, but who cares!
We than made our way to the Cemetery of the Recoleta. I bumped in one of my fellow castellano classmates. We spent a good hour in the cemetery, and I guess we are
going to come back sooner or later. It's actually fun to witness the questions of a 10 and 11 years old kids in such a cemetery, made a very entertaining hour for me.
We finished our day...with an icecream....mousse de maracuya, sabayon and dulce de leche tentacion...wow...that was good...and than it was already time to get back home to get ready for another week at school...bath time, ironing time, dinner time...busy week....busier week-end!
Next two week-ends we have more discoveries ahead of us. You can say it, we never stop! Argentina is such a big country, we have so much to visit....that we better start early in order to do the full wishlist...planning some more cool things this month...and a lot more to come for September.
Next entry...next week....with love from Argentina! It's going to be tuff to leave this place in just over 10 months...

You are a great dad planning all these activities for your kids...
and it's good that they enjoy doing what you plan. I'm enjoying reading about things that residents do.
