Australia finally!

So here we are, finally in Australia, we just landed in Cairns and went to the cheapest backpacker's hostel we found named Nomads Serpent. By chance they could offer us a "job" (3 hours a day, 7/7) in exchange for accomodation, breakfast and dinner. We accepted that because that was a good option to start our trip, without spending money, meeting people and have an address for all the administrative task that had to be done.

The jobs we got were housekeeper, which means clean rooms and make beds basically. Which was not the worst job we could get there (some of our friends got to clean toilets and bathrooms and they did not manage to do it more than a week!) So we did this job 3 weeks. The managers were not that nice, but all the staff working was pretty friendly and became quite a small familly. Lots of French and German people.

During our stay, we were lucky to be here when the hostel hosted Oceanian athletes for one week. The hostel was booked only for them so only the stuff and athletes were at the hostel which made quite relax for us.

And above all we got to meet lots of athletes from islands we never heard about before. Some of them go to the OL in London, and we could also get in touch with many different culture and tradition form the whole Oceanian. Indeed, they did a closing ceremony with traditional clothes, musics, danses... Really great people and great experience. And that was good to watch some athletism. The only disapointment was that there was no pole vault for the competition 😞

Beach volley, relaxing, swimming chatting was the schedule of our weeks 😊 We tried an outdoor and free big zumba, which was quite fun. We also found a job, two days to build and unbuild tribunes. Good for our gym and wallet 😊
