Look here I am not being a week late for a post! Maybe it's because I have absolutly nothing to do today. I ran around Perugia this afternoon with Carrie, but that only took us an hour. I don't have class and already finished my paper so I'm set. That's where this blog comes in:

This past weekend I went to Rome with my Archaeological Discoveries class. I absolutly hate this class and if I hear the word "Etruscan" once after leaving Italy I don't even know what I'll do. The one good thing I will get out of this class was the paid for trip to Rome, which I loved.

We met at (ew) 6:20am to get on a charter bus that drove straight to Rome. Abby and I brought our neck pillows and slept the whole way. Once we got there, we took the Metro to the hotel, dropped our stuff and were immediately on our way. We stopped for breakfast quick, too. I didn't really know what/where we were going to becuase our professor was never like, "hey bring your umbrellas and cameras and lunches you packed!" So I didn't bring any of those with me

this is important apparently..
(but I had my camera at least).

Turns out, we were headed to the Vatican Museum. There was a line on 3 sides of the building but we got to cut it because we had tickets (woo!). We walked through a LOT of the museum, but I know it wasn't all of it. It was incredibly boring for the most part. Plus it was still early in the morning. I mean, there's only so many statues I can look at before they all look the same. As we were walking around inside we saw that it was raining outside. And not really just raining, it was actually pouring.

After seeing everything our professor brought us there for, he gave us about 4 hours or so of free time to stay in the museum and/or get lunch. We HAD to go to the Sistine Chapel since we were already there and everything. It was kind of funny how packed the place was and how many people we had to squish by just to get in. It was like 5 huge long hallways or stair cases just packed with people. Once we finally made it into the Sistine Chapel, it

was nothing like I expected. It looked nothing like a church. Were there even pews? It was just filled with people and everyone's cameras were in the air flashing everywhere. It was nuts. We took our pictures and got out of there ASAP.

After that we were so done with that place so we wanted to get lunch. We had to run through the rain to get to the closest restaurant. I didn't have a rain jacket or umbrella with me so I got drenched fast, along with the rest of my class. When we all met back up, it was seriously a torrential downpour at that point. Abby and I were laughing we were so miserable and soaked. But, of course, we had places to go so we had to move along.

We were brought to the Musei Capitolini which I'm not even positive what that is exactly. Just a ton more statues. After that, we were free! We were all exausted and headed back to the hotel as fast as possible. That night I had plans to meet my parents for dinner. Yay!

Abby and I fell asleep immediately once we got back but my

dad called and woke me up (good thing) and asked when we wanted to meet. We jumped up, got ready quickly and headed back out into the rain, which we prepared ourselves for this time.

We met my parents at their Metro stop and they took us to dinner at this place called Dilla (I think?). It was great and I loved that I got to see them twice while they were in Italy.

After we all said bye, Abby and I decided to go run around on the Spanish Steps then see the Trevi Fountain at night. It was beautiful! Still pouring, but it was so great. We got gelato then got back to the hotel eventually after roaming around Rome and passed out right away.

The next morning, breakfast was brought to our room by 8am and we had to be out of there by 8:30. They literally brought us a feast it was great! Then we had to head back out into another day of pouring rain.

We were brought to the very end of the city limits of Rome to see the Villa Giulia. Inside was an Etruscan (ew) museum. No one was feeling it because we probably didn't care at all what we were looking at. After that, we were done for the day! Time to explore!

We made our way to the Coliseum first. We waited in line, paid to get in, then walked around the whole thing. It was still raining and every person had an umbrella so my pictures are much more colorful. From there, we went to the Trevi Fountain to see that in the day. It was more packed in the day for sure, and the rain died down at that point, luckily. From there, I had an hour to make it back to the hotel, grab my stuff from there, then make it to the bus station for a 4pm bus to Perugia. I definitely power walked to make that happen, but I did it! Luckily the Metro system in Rome is really easy to manage. I got back to Perugia that night and stayed out til 5am, and did absolutly nothing on Sunday but watch a movie in bed. Worth it!

This week is "Special Academics Week" with presentations and such. I have nothing to do this week for that, but I do have one more 6 page paper to write, and 4 finals starting on the 23rd, then home!

I loved Rome and wish I could have spent longer there. I saw everything I wanted to see, but still, it's a huge city. I liked it as much as Florence, but the weather was snowy in Florence and downpouring in Rome. Also, I got to see my parents in Rome, big plus.

10 more days til home yayy. Ciao!
