On Wednesday morning it was time to move on from Geraldton and slowly make our way back down to Bunbury where we have secured another house sit. It was a cracker of a day so before hitting the road we had a coffee down by the Geraldton foreshore and I took one last chance for a dip; everyone should have the chance to start their day like this.

After a few hours we stopped in Jurien and checked into the local caravan park for the night. We were only a stones throw away from the sea and our campsite had the afternoon shade so we took the chance for a bit of RnR before having a jog along Jurien Bay. There had been a few signs around the park for a bit of entertainment that night so we thought we would check it out once we got back.

A handful of guests huddled into the camp kitchen where Bush Balladeer Buzzer was scheduled to perform. Buzzer is in his 80's, jogs everyday and is still recording his country songs. He even made the time to come over and have a chat earlier in the day. When it was all said and done he performed for about two and a half hours and had the audience laughing and singing along......a classic Aussie larrikin if there ever was one. Hats off to the man whose only remuneration for his work was gold coin donations but we made it worth his while purchasing some of his merch....we had our photo taken with him and he even threw in a free stubbie holder. Something different - great night.

The following day we motored off by about 9 and headed towards Perth and landed in Forrestfield. We almost checked into one caravan park but as we rolled in it looked like it had seen better days. Our patience paid off when we were able to get a spot at the local Discovery Holiday Park. This is hands down the best park we have ever stayed in. The cost was standard but what we essentially got, caravan park wise, was 5 star accommodation. The grounds were pristine and staff constantly pruned and cleaned; the camp kitchen belonged more in a home than a tourist park with two fully functioning stoves and plenty of room; there was also a separate TV room with modern couches and a big flat screen; the shower and toilet cubicles were immaculate and the size of small soccer pitches; and on top of all of that the pool area was something you'd usually see in a resort. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

During our stay we also met a lovely South African couple who were on extended holidays with their children. They were absolutely in love with Australia, so much so that they would like to move here permanently. We take it for granted living in this 'lucky' country but it hits home when you hear of the stories of living abroad. The couple commented that while South Africa is completely stunning it also suffers from severe social problems, violence and it did not sound like the ideal place to raise a family with car jackings being a part of everyday life.
