Silvermine Beach Resort hotel where I stayed Flights are difficult to get this time of year, due to Chinese New Year. I, therefore, had to fly into Hong Kong a day earlier for my flight to Haikou City on island of Hainan in the South China Sea. I decided to stay on island of Lantau,Hong Kong, it is close to the airport & more affordable than the big chain hotels bordering the airport, which start at $400 & up. Silvermine Beach Resort Hotel is on Silvermine Bay, & through the internet, I booked a room for $97 for one night. The hotel was very comfortable, staff very helpful & the breakfast, which was included, was most delicious. There is a boardwalk, which winds around the harbor, & eventually leads to shops, restaurants, McDonald's, USBC bank & many smaller shops, including 7-11. I wandered around, bought a couple sweaters to keep warm, had a coffee at McDonald's & one of their famous apple pies! Oh well.........the remainder of the day was spent poking around side streets, seeing the local culture-Lantau is very laid-back. Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy & cool & the mountains bordering the harbor, were shrouded in fog. On a sunny day, it would be a picture
perfect spot. I arrived by taxi, $200 HK$ ($28.) & returned to the airport on bus A35 for $15 HK$!
It was a very pleasant experience..........Be sure to scroll down to page 2 to see more photographs.

Hi, Honey, Still having great adventures and looking beautiful as well. Today is the Change of Command at the club and Ed and I are going on the Remley's yacht. Right now it is looking overcast. Hope it doesn't rain with all the outside activity to do with the ceremony. Sadly, my mom passed away on Jan. 13, but she died peacefully in her sleep in her home and is now with my dad in heaven. I miss her dearly and probably always will. Look forward to our luncheon when you return. Love, Carlynn
