Lunch with Heather's Family

After visiting the Summer Palace, we were honored to have the opportunity to share dinner with Heather's family, including her mother and father. Heather's niece Sara and her father, who had been our guide at the Summer Palace, also joined us. Thank you to Sara her father for all the great information and your help!

We enjoyed a traditional Chinese dinner that included a LOT of delicious food, fun conversation and entertainment provided by the children. Between the time we spent with Heather when she was in Minnesota and the special moments we have shared with her while we have been in China, we feel as though we are all one big family.

The restaurant is located at the edge of Beijing near the mountains. In the videos attached to this entry, you can view some of the countryside (moving by pretty quickly) as well as a shepherd tending to his goats. Also covered in video is lunch with Heather's family and some of the entertainment provided by the children. Heather's son William eloquently recited several Chinese poems that I regretfully did not get on video.

The final video stars Ying (the shy one?) singing a song she apparently made up as she sang. For those of you who still think she is shy, you'll want to view this one. A special thank you is in order to Sara, Kathy, Yan laoshi, Dunmae (sp) laoshi, Li laoshi, Larry and the entire staff at the Minnesota Chinese Daycare Center and Roseville Special Education Department for helping bring her out of her shell in time for kindergarten - THANK YOU!
