Our time in Buenos Aires comes to an end already, tonight we will take a night bus to Córdoba but we have some more impressions to share.

The weather cleared up and we spent the long weekend, monday was the "Columbus Day" holiday, mostly slacking. On sunday, we strolled around in the neighbourhood around our hostel and went to a couple of markets, yes, a couple. There was a flea market, an antiques market and a crafts market. Lots of things to look at but due to the fact that we will have to carry our backpacks for another three months, we restraint ourselves from buying anthing.

On sunday we went to Palermo, the hip and partylicious neighbourhood. Boring as we are, we didn't go for the clubs but visited the Japanese Garden which was really nice and the nearby "Parque 3 de Febrero", that was a little peculiar. Around the park were a couple of tracks where people were jogging, cycling, inline skating and lots of other sport. It felt like we walked into a marathon. We followed the Lonely Planet travelguide recommendation and headed to the restaurant "Bio" (http://www.biorestaurant.com.ar/) for lunch. The place offers organic and vegetarian food. It was superb! I had Indian rice with chutney, Grim ate seitan with raspberry sauce and we shared homemade ginger lemonade. I want to bring "Bio" back to Cologne!

After the peaceful and quiet weekend the city was back to normal today: hords of honking cars and masses of people pushing through. This Buenos Aires was to busy and loud for us. Another incident that rained on our parade today: Someone stole our cheese from the fridge in the common area. Real class act! After that downer and a cheeseless breakfast, we headed for Recoleto. That neighbourhood is home of a famous cemetery where among others Evita is buried. Walking through the cemetery felt like walking through a city for the dead. The caskets are kept in mausoleums that look like houses with glass doors that make view to the caskets, rosaries and dried flowers. Very creepy and surreal.

We concluded our stay here with visiting one of the famous cafés here and had coffee and "alfajures", cookies filled with a caramel like cream. The so-called "dulce de leche" seems like a main food here. We get it for breakfast in the hostel as a spread, lots of pastries are filled with it and coffee comes with it as well. We don't mind that through. 😊
