John in Nikolaikirche
pretty crazy church, huh? It was originally designed in the Romanesque style, but the interior got a French Classical makeover in the late 1700s. After another appalling amount of beer and a much later night than we should have had at
Sonderbar, we hopped over to
Leipzig via the
train, checked into our super cool
hostel and went a-sightseein’. We were s’posed to have a plan, but didn’t, thought it ended up being better after all. The town is small enough that all the major attractions are concentrated within walking distance, and large enough to have some good life to it. The
Nikolaikirche was staggering, and the
Stasi Museum was unbelievable for different reasons. We casually visited
Bach’s gravesite, saw some monkey love and some monkey hate at the
Zoo, ate some dinner at the
Auerbachs Keller (just like Faust did in that one book…), and had a pretty cool roommate named Axel. The boys had lots of
Döner. I had lots of
Crêpes. Food is good. Food is gooder on vacation.
