This morning we lazed about the hostel and caught up on sleep (Alice must've slept for more that 12hrs). Not only relaxing, we also realised how cost effective this can be, since you don't have to buy breakfast if you're not awake to eat it.

We then caught a bus to the rental car depot. This proved a ripe hunting ground for Alice's and my new competition: who can photograph the biggest fatty. Certainly some prime specimins on the bus.

We certainly got our money's worth out of the rental car receptionist. Despite making him come into the car park and point out all the different buttons (it is a very flashy car) we still couldn't work out how to start the engine. Eventually Alice sheepishly went back to ask: turns out, you have to press down the brake pedal whilst pressing the 'on' switch (there's no ignition). Very odd. Anyway, I did a few practice turns around the car park (took us even longer to work out how to reverse) and then we set off. Destination: a cinema the other side of town. Miraculously I didn't kill anyone, and we actually got there alive (although there were a

(except they don't understand what you mean if you say that, so you have to call it a rental car)
few times I started to drift into the right-hand lane).

We had time to kill so resorted to our new favourite pasttime of laughing at New Age bookshops. Alice managed to buy a book about what sightings of animal spirits truly mean, whilst I explored the 'health and wellness' section.

Harry Potter 7 was a great success. In fact, parts were so soppy you could hear people crying, and at the end everybody clapped. The cinema was also fairly novel - there were tables in front of everyone and you could order real heart-attack-on-a-plate food to be brought to you.

For dinner we headed out to a recommended bar/grill on the famous 6th Street. Our food took ages to come though, and when we got it, it was wrong (I still didn't pluck up the courage to send it back - next time maybe). We then tried to find some live music but most of the bars were empty. Eventually settled on a jazz piano bar, although I was dissapointed to notice the baby grands were actually just DIY wooden shells with keyboards sat in them 😞 Highlight was Alice not understanding what they were asking her

I would have bought it only (a) suprisingly expensive (b) that might encourage them to print more
even after several tries (some Texan translation of 'would you like a drink?'😉. Then back to the hostel, trying to fill up with petrol on the way (and failing). Tomorrow, maybe.

Hmmm...
Your aged aunt does slightly wonder what you think of tourists visiting Oxford and laughing at the locals..... I hope that reallysubtlephotography is really subtle. But I have to admit that there was a lad at a Subway counter at Miami airport who simply could not explain the available choices in a way that I could understand.
