By the time you read this, we are nearly out of the Caribbean. We have been without internet connection for the last six days, enjoying great time in a dream place.

But here we are back to this entry, our last few stops in Yucatan, Mexico. I have to admit, Coba and Chetumal are a good 300 kilometers away, but I thought one entry is far enough for the two places.

We left Tulum early morning at 7am on the ADO bus to Coba, around 50 km inland from Tulum. Coba is housing another great set of Maya ruins. The sites only open at 8am, and we were there at 7.55am, the first to access the ruins...great!

Entry to most of the sites around here are pretty cheap, below 4usd. We rented bicycles to get us around Coba. This is as usual great fun. It even geo better once we reach the main pyramid, that you can climb, and find out we were the only tourists around.

We were done with Coba by 10.30am. At that time, load of buses were just arriving, just in time to great our departure from this nice place. Better get there early too, as the sun and heat get pretty hard later on in the day. As we were out way too early for the first bus back to Tulum, it was on for a fast taxi ride.

Early Mexican food lunch in Tulum pueblo, and it was another great meal for both of us. We had our ADO bus at 1pm, three hours ride for the border city of Chetumal way south, and way out of reach from most of the toursits.

Chetumal is a prety safe town, good for us! There is not much to see around town, if it is for the Museo de la Cultura Maya. The museum is said to be the best Museum in the Yucatan Peninsula. We got there before it closed, and enjoy a nice tour. Sadly, most of the sculptures in the museum are copies, and not even stone copies. But the setting was pretty nice, reminding me of the kind of pavillons you could find at any World Expo.

It was also time for our last diner in Mexico, last Mexican margaritas...I have to admit, we haven't seen much of Chetumal. Our hotel was right in front of the museum. We walk the main street to try to find a restaurant, which was not such an easy task...low level of tourism, means also less choices to eat around here.

Next morning, early wake up call, and we took a taxi to the bus terminal. We found out that indeed we could buy our bus tickets right before boarding our bus for what was going to be an 8 hours ride over three different countries....Central America...here we come! As you can guess by now, Chetumal was just a transfering point for us, but ended being a pretty nice place to stop for the night.

We had a pretty short stay in Mexico, only 3 nights, but had a wonderful time, mainly away from the crowds. Great food, nice people, nice ruins, and even better diving....great souvenirs! Oh, and I forgot, the weather is pretty nice too for the season, always a plus point!

Next stop, a truly world place!
