I decided to have a day off from sight seeing today, and chill out. I went to the train station to buy my ticket to Moscow which was a very pleasant 25 min walk along the main high street in St P, full of shops, a bit like Oxford St with lots of the same shops, Monsoon, Zara, H&M to name a few. So I arrived armed with all the info I needed and found the ticket office which had about 25 booths. No prob I thought, but it took over an hour of waiting in line before my turn came.

I showed the lady behind the counter the note that the Anna from the hostel had written in Russian, with all the details I needed including;
the train number,
time it was due to leave,
price,
third class sleeper
everything !!!

The woman took a long look looked at me and said "Niet" ....... I replied with a "Oh god, what do I do now" !!
as I had just waited for over an hour I was not going anywhere until I had bought my ticket!! So much gesticulation ensued, but she was having non of it, and just kept on repeating "Niet" all the goddamn time. VERY infuriating. Then a guardian angel came along in the form of a man in his 20's who came from further back in the queue and asked if I needed help translating ....... so finally I bought a different timed ticket that leaves at 2am and arrives at 12midday, its 3rd class and I have a bunk so hopefully I should be fine.

A stroll back to the hostel that included a stop at a pancake shop, then as is customary I got a bit lost and ended up getting the metro back home.

picnic for tea in the hostel and much chilling out until bed time
